The first Little Ringed Plovers were seen on Friday and have been seen each day since, mainly between the Purfleet and Bunker Pool scrapes on the new shallow diggings that we created at the start of the winter. Lapwings and Redshank are settling down and we already have several of the former on nests.

Wheatears have continued to be seen along the river wall since the first on Thursday  with up to six present at times (five today). The piece of foreshore nearest the landfill has been the best spot.

The Sentinal (John Daly)

Tusselling male Wheatears (Tony Orwell)

A couple of Sand Martins were seen yesterday and Chiffchaffs and Blackcaps are now well in song along the approach road. Not long till the Sedge warblers get here.

The pair of Marsh Harriers are still active and the Raven was once again seen over the weekend. Looks like they may become a regular feature...

Raven (David Dent)

Hopefully we may get something else dropping in before the day is out....
