With temperatures topping 16c here yesterday it was not surprising that the marsh was alive with bird song with Skylarks climbing high into the blue, Reed Buntings signing from the reed tops and every species in the woodland giving it large! Common Frogs were seen in the Wildlife Garden Pond and the first (and biggest) of the Marsh Frogs emerged to sunbathe on the grassy banks!

Marsh Frog (Jerry Hoare)

The marsh is still full of dabbling duck and Lapwing and this flock has held 70 Golden Plover, three Ruff, 313 Dunlin and s a staggering 520 Black-tailed Godwits over the high tide this week!  Wish I had a picture of the godwits as they headed back out onto the Thames yesterday evening. The two White-fronted Geese were still wit the cnada flock and the variously plumaged pipits were all still along the forshore for those wanting a challange.!
