It has been an up and down week weatherwise with incredibly hots spells, driving rain, low cloud, intense humidity and sometimes howling wind to add a bit of variety.

However, it has brought in a few waders. The Black-tailed Godwit flock has dwindled to eight birds now but we also now have a couple of Greenshank, two Green Sandpipers, Wood Sandpiper, two Common Sandpipers, Whimbrel and several Snipe on the pools although with the vegetation being at its most luxurient actaully finding them is not that easy!

Even the Little Egrets manage to disappear!

Bearded Tits have been showing exceptionally well and Russ Sherriff got this great shot of a young male.

Mark Vale has also got some fabulous images but they will get a post of their own...

Med Gulls have also been a bit of a feature this week with several sightings of both juvenile and adult birds that have arrived at the same time as our traditional mid-summer influx of Yellow-legged Gulls with 44 counted yesterday at low tide and 15 today. The Kent side is the best place to check for this Mediterranean visitor.

Plenty of insect activity in the warm spells and sheltered spots with nice views of Ringlet butterflies and Ruddy Darters in the woodland on Tuesday morning...

Looks like tomorrow will be nice but the weather for Sunday looks a bit iffy so get out while you can and make the most of it!
