The huge skies of Rainham Marshes are home to other magical things other than bird, insects and the occasional impressive old plane...
On the 8th September I captured these two almost perfectly triangular clouds as they appeared to be hovering in some sort of alien invasion holding pattern over the reserve. Most peculiar. If you look closely you can see ice crystal blowing out beneath the tip of the right hand 'craft'.
And today I received this bizarre cloud shot from Saturday 22nd, taken by Simon Wood. It looks like some sort of giant cloud tadpole or perhaps a horseshoe crab in my typically warped perspective on things!
Any thought as to what you think they look like and even more intriguingly, how do such shapes occur?

Howard, I've got a really good book on clouds, you are welcome to borrow it if you want to.
How much do we reveal with the Rorschach ink blots? The second one could be a bird of paradise with a long tail - I can just see an eye at the left. Or a squid releasing ink? The triangular clouds look like disappearing vapour trails.
