Last night saw our final Dusk Walk of the season and it was a good one with Avocets in the Bay, eight Glow Worms in the woodland Little Egrets heading off to roost. Many bats were seen and I am waiting for a list of those detected!

Highlight for me and those in the centre was the huge fight between our two top bulls out on Aveley Marsh! It started at about 7.30 and went on till well afterthe sun had set behind the landfill site. This was not just a little bit of pushing and shoving but full blown pawing of the ground, heads down and charging! The sound was amazing and even those who did not see the action could hear it! The other cows and calves all rallied round and seemed to be taking sides. In fact it looked like a playground scuffle with all the other kids standing round in a circle callling 'fight! fight! fight!' When it looked like no one was going to win they all got bored and heading back for a last graze before bedtime. Both were still alive this morning but we did get the farmer out to check them both over!  There should be some images to come of both the bulls and glow-worms!
