With ice holding the stiller waters in its cold grip for the last few days it has made interesting viewing around the woodland feeders where previously dropped seed that would have sunk in the blackness is now just sitting around waiting to eaten...

This has provided visitors with excellent views of our commoner small birds as they flit down to collect an easily snaffled morsel!

Femal Reed Bunting - Duncan Eames

Male Reed Bunting - Andrew Critchell - This one is already exceptionally smart for the time of year

Two more male Reed Buntings - Lawrence Rogers

Dunnock - Tom Kearney

Blue Tit - Duncan Eames

Not all the birds were coming down for seeds, like this Cetti's Warbler searching for insects - a great shot by Andrew Critchell.

Oh and also not everything is a bird....

Hellllloooooo....... Brown Rat - Lawrence Rogers

and this one with bright pink and probably cold hands - Val Callen...

We love them and I think they are far cuter than Water Voles.....!!! Sorry Vinnie!
