Yesterday was a foul, wet windy day with a howling easterly coming straight up river. However, despite the crowd of avid river watchers yesterday that had nowt for all their troubles bar a couple Common and Arctic Terns. Today our luck changed and in the early morning gloom and drizzle a juvenile Sabine's Gull bounced into view.  it is still present as I type, delicately picking morsels from the surface much in the manner of a Little Gull.  This striking high Arctic visitor is a real treat this far up river. We have also seen three Arctic Skuas and two juvenile Arctic Terns as well as a flock of 8m 6f Common Scoter.

A collage of the Sabine's Gull by me...

Scoter on the move!

Lots of Meadow Pipits heading through and an almost constant stream of migrating Swallows along with a single flock of about 200 House Martins.  The rain has now set in so who knows what else will appear...
