It's been cleaning season - we have to be careful about what we do out on the nature reserve in spring and summer due to the breeding wildlife.

So now we're turning slowly to autumn it's that time when we can get out and about and do those things that we haven't been able to...

The fabulous Thursday Work Party team of volunteers deep cleaned the Shooting Butts Hide! What started as a quick job to clean the windows turned into the whole team cleaning every surface, window, door and floor!

Nicole and Jamie, our amazing Warden and Assistant Warden have been out cleaning the hide windows, inside and out:

And the outside too! There were ALOT of spiders so we had to be careful!

I know a few people have been asking us over the spring and summer about cleaning the windows - especially of the Marshland Discovery Zone (MDZ), but due to the breeding birds we couldn't. Especially at the MDZ with the kingfishers nesting so close - they are a schedule one bird and it is illegal to disturb them at the nest - so we weren't able to clean the windows before!

A huge thank you to the staff and volunteers that are working so hard - it takes a lot of work to keep a nature reserve clean and tidy, and of course a brilliant place for wildlife!
