Autumn/ Winter Closing Times 2019 and recent sightings

Just a quick reminder - Autumn/ Winter opening times: 9.30 am-4.30 pm November-January.

So as of Friday 1 November the reserve (visitor centre, shop, car park, main entrance road) will be closing at 4.30 pm.

The cafe opens at 10am, serves food until 3pm (after that snacks and drinks are still available), and closes half an hour before the visitor centre does (in Autumn/ Winter that will be 4pm).

Here are some of the wildlife highlights from yesterday: common redstart,  210 black-tailed godwit, 35 avocet, green sandpiper, 12 tufted duck, 4 great crested grebe, kingfisher, 3 grey wagtail, 5 bearded tit, 2 chiffchaff, 4 goldcrest, 25 redwing, 3 song thrush, 2 buzzard, female marsh harrier, 5 siskin, 37 ring-necked parakeets, 35 redshank, 40 shelduck, 2 blackbirds, 5 meadow pipits, adult yellow legged gull, 2 curlew, 2 dunlin, kestrel, 2 stock doves.

Oh and so far today we have had 18 dark-bellied brent geese and two male common scoter have been seen on the river in the murk today already.
