I was not technically at work today but was off out to do some butterflying in south Kent and so left the car at Rainham... As we drove out this morning, Bill swerved around something in the road.

'It's a big beetle' says Bill so out we get to find a female Stag Beetle getting all stroppy in the middle of the road. She allowed me to pick her up and move her to the pavement where she continued with her belligerent stance.

After a few snaps, the 'Stag Beetle Rescue Police' arrived (Annie of course!) and asked us to stop harassing the young lady and move along quietly. She was taken off to our nice rotting wood pile in the Wildlife Garden when I am sure she will feel quite at home!

and yes I did have a great day out in sunny Kent and saw an amazing 29 species of Butterfly!!!!!!

Oh and some bird stuff from Andy Tweed for today.... 3 Buzzard , 4 Hobby , Sparrowhawk , 9 Black Tailed Godwit , 2 Oystercatcher , Wood Sandpiper , Ruff , Sanderling , 2 Dunlin , Ringed Plover , common Sandpiper , Green Sandpiper , 2 Snipe , 2 Wheatear , 4 Bearded Tit.

Back to work tomorrow!
