Taking advantage of the the break in the weather I ventured out of the office to look at the work on the Healthland. The new wet pools systems are really taking shape and it does not need much imagination to see how this area is going to be fantastic for a wide variety of wildlife. Walking to the top of the pools on the footpath, there is a three way split, you get a great views of how the pools join together and cascade down to the black pond. Whilst admiring Jeff's work (our contractor) and contemplating how great it would be to see woodlark here there was a flash of white from my left and on the dead tree landed a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker. This was the best view I have ever had, the colours were so vibrant and i could hear the short and sharp kick-call as it was climbing around the tree. As the saying goes, if only you had been here............
