We're holding one of our optics days this bank holiday Monday with a great range of binoculars and telescopes on display for you to try. There will also be expert help on hand to help you choose the equipment that is right for you.
Whilst testing out the binoculars in the visitor centre you could spot swifts and swallows hunting for insects over the water. Yesterday afternoon we saw 3 hobby hunting over the south brooks and on Friday you could have spotted a white stork as you enjoyed your cup of bird-friendly coffee on the cafe terrace!
Venturing out onto the wetland trail the nightingales are still going strong, with one of the males in Fattengates courtyard being a real poser! All the warblers are in fine voice and a pair of garganey showed well on the North Brooks this morning.
A few of the earlier dragonflies and damselflies have emerged from the ponds and ditches and can be found patrolling the trail.
