Another sublime morning - completely still and bright sunshine. Hundreds of pintails still on site, mostly on the north brooks where many of the males were doing their best to look fabulous in front of the females. The enormo-flood is dropping, and there are strips of land appearing in front of West Mead hide, where ca.200 lapwing were jostling for the best spots and a couple of ruff stalked about in the background like they always do.

Yesterday, at least 2 ravens noisily flew around/over the site for much of the morning, and a marsh harrier was seen hunting the river bank on the south brooks. The area between Winpenny and West Mead is likely to be very good for ducks and waders over the next few days as the dropping flood will be just right for variety of species.

For the first time since Christmas eve, the whole of the trail, including Nettley's hide and Winpenny hide, is now back open, but please note there might be some flood debris on the trail, particularly between West Mead and Winpenny hides.
