Quick summary of the current situation - the nature trail is flooded around Winpenny hide, Nettley's hide will be inaccessible later today due to rising floodwaters and Fattengates courtyard is closed due to fallen trees, but the rest of the trails/hides/viewpoints remain passable. Yesterday's heavy rain is now causing the Arun to overtop the flood defence banks again, so it is unlikely Winpenny hide will be open for another few days. The ducks, particularly wigeon and pintail, still seem to be enjoying the conditions.

Our weather station tells me we've had 110.2mm of rain since 22nd December, about a third of which fell on the 23rd. It doesn't tell me that we've also had some extremely highs winds, but that becomes obvious after a walk around, with numerous trees/branches down. Overall, not a great deal to say about the last week and a half that can't be said better with a few photos...

North brooks on 24/12. Note: there should be two flood banks in that photo!

Access to Winpenny hide somewhat problematical, 24/12.

Nettley's hide, equally tricky, 24/12.

Amberley wildbrooks, 27/12.

What the underneath of a Norway spruce looks like, if you've ever wondered.

A bit more storm damage, or a new home, if you are a treecreeper.
