Wednesday morning brought another sunny day to Orkney. A small group of people came for the walk, both visitors to the island and locals. The bird life seen turned out not to be as spectacular as the previous walk at Hobbister, but we were given some great views of some birds that are normally classed as 'LBJ's - Little Brown Jobs'!

Not long into the walk we were treated to a song flighting meadow pipit, right along side us on the path. After spotting it in the heather and getting good views, it took to the air, singing, rising to it's crescendo and parachuting back down and landing on the fence in front of us!

Not long after, a couple of twite passed overhead calling and for most of the walk that was as good view we were going to get of them but close to the end of the walk, 4 landed in the heather nearby, beside a meadow pipit and the whole group were able to get good a comparison between them.

Fulmar were very evidant on the cliff edge, 4 black guillemot were seen close in to the cliff base and bonxies were out patrolling the skies. Eider ducks, greater black backed gulls, shag and a brief glimpse of a kestrel was had. Several wrens could be heard singing and the ravens passed by.
