A few from the South Hide

A couple of weeks ago Limpy and I had a couple of hours to spare so we decided to spend them at Minsmere.  We headed to the South Hide, and that's pretty much where I spent most of the visit:

There was a great variety of waders about, though most of them weren't as close as I would have liked!  I'm starting with this green sandpiper.

A beautiful greenshank coming in to land.

Giving me a look.

It pottered across the island and started to forage on the shore.

A few dunlin.

Along came a shelduck!

I'd been watching these for a short while and trying to work out what they were, when the penny abruptly dropped.  A cry of 'Blimey, they're snipe!' made the other occupants of the hide jump.  They're not supposed to be as obviously visible as this.

It's too late to huddle, you've been spotted and identified.

A common sandpiper.

Pretty sure this is a spotted redshank.

Still gorgeous, even without the summer plumage.

A dragonfly of some description!  Hopefully Ian or Whistling Joe will come along and ID it in a twinkling.

This blue tit wasn't at the South Hide but I couldn't leave it out.

Enjoy, as always!
