Minsmere - First Visit In 8 Months

Having decided to spend a week on the Suffolk coast we finally managed a trip to Minsmere on Sun 18th Oct.

First up some fun guys near the visitor centre, no idea on ID.

On the path of the north wall path we had our first good sightings of the day.............

Mallards having a who can stand on one leg longest competition.

We walked along the back of the beach towards the sluice to try and spot any Dartford Warblers, Stonechats or anything else skulking in the gorse bush's. We were lucky.

Just before the sluice is a small reed fringed pond just inside the reserve fence.

Then behind us in the gorse bush's

Turn around and back to the Water Rail.

BB Gulls on one of the scrapes.

View across the reed beds to NT Dunwich Heath reserve.

We had to pass these two preening swans on the path very carefully.

Then right to the side of the wildlife lookout hide......

After the beards disappeared a flock of these came through the bushes next to the hide.

Walking up to the visitor centre for tea we were serenaded by this Robin.

Thank you for looking and hope you enjoyed our sightings, we did. A great day walking and birding.
