Thoroughly recommend a stay at Barnacle Cottage in the Mershead Reserve - cottage itself is comfy and cosy - and spent many hours in the hides. Mersehead is such a beautiful and peaceful place - we hope to visit again. Thanks to the volunteers and staff for making us welcome and sharing their knowledge to a novice birdwatcher. I attach herewith some photographs -
1. I think these are three Black-tailed Godwits - can anybody confirm?
2. a heron enjoying the early morning sun
3. a sedge warbler?

Hello,
I'm really pleased you enjoyed your stay at Mersehead!
Your Bird ID is excellent - these are indeed black tailed godwits and a sedge wabler!
We are holding our annual bird-a-thon today - we are trying to record as many bird species as possible in one day! Results will be up on the blog later.
