Oh my, another week. How many rosettes did Tweed win at the agility contest? Check Patriciat's late post on last week's blog to find out! Congratulations Tweed and Patriciat!

Excellent news Alicat as they thought number 5 had died. WE energies GHO has 2 owlets:
This not a live webcam . It just gives hourly snapshots.
Hi everyone: Long day and now home with rain started. Took Oro for nice long walk by the Santa Ynez River (which is still fairly low), then some errands. Daughter got all-clear from doc to start swimming again next week, so is happy.
Thanks Alan: I'll try to figure out where that new hummercam is; thanks also for pix.
Quiet on here today! Hope everyone is okay. Off to bed early.
Hi, all! So glad folks liked the Pale Male links. Such a majestic bird.
ChloeB: I, too, would like to see Pale Male. I so hope that you get a chance to visit Central Park, and even tour around the United States. Lots of great birds of all kinds. Red-tailed hawks are fairly common here where I live. I'm always thrilled and mesmerized when I see one. I'm so happy that the bald eagles are making such a strong comback in my state. Tiger: I hope Pale Male can father a few more offspring. He's such a grand old patriarch.
dibnlib: Congrats on the end of the remodeling work. Enjoy! Paul: Lucky you to have robins in your garden. Usually some of our robins stay through the winter, but this year, I think they all migrated. Smart birds! Margobird: Hail stones covering the lawn? Mercy. Poor birds flying for cover! It is amazing that Pale Male can thrive in such a noisy and chaotic place.
Lindybird: Glad you enjoyed The Princess and the Frog. I really like the Ice Age animated movies, and my niece and nephew are crazy about them, watching them repeatedly. I appreciated the underlying environmental message. AQ might be interested to know that I recently watched Dot and the Kangaroo (on YouTube), which is a classic Australian children's book and film, I think. I watched it because I am absolutely fascinated by the aboriginal Bunyip spirit beast. The film's end must be very sad for children, though. "Come back, kangaroo, come back...!!!"
OG: Yes indeedy dear, we still have some snow on the ground. I went to town today to get groceries, and there are big drifts along the roads. Between here and the local town, it's mostly farm land (where corn, beans, wheat, etc. grow) and very flat; you can see for miles. The snow drifts wildly because there's nothing to stop it. I did get confirmation today that the sun still exists! Sunshine and blue sky for the afternoon. Yay! We're going to have another storm starting tonight, but I think we'll get a bunch of rain this time. Caerann will get the big snow, and she can have it!!! Those people up there in Chicago are hearty folk. :-) My house project is coming along slowly, I'm afraid. Thanks for asking. I seem to be in a very lazy state of being right now. I just want to hibernate like a grumpy ol' bear. Maybe I'll visit Annette and try to uncover her secret for boundless energy.
Annette: I have booked my flight, and I'll be there to attend the cinema with you on Saturday. I expect you to take me to a nice restaurant because I'll be hungry after all that travelling. hahahahahahahaha And, yes, wasn't that whole wrong-region DVD gift to Prime Minister Brown just so embarrassing for us? I'm surprised that you are a white-knuckle flyer, because you seem so positive and confident in all other aspects of your life. I don't like to fly either, not because it scares me, but it makes me claustrophobic. Way too many people in a way too small place. I'd rather fly outside the plane with the birds! I very often have dreams about being a bird-human creature and flying, usually very fast and not very controlled. :-)
Ok, must work on endless house improvement tomorrow. Very good weekend to everyone!!!
Good morning everyone. Just had Dillon out for his walk and it is a beautiful day if very cold. Dillon doesn't like it but the first priority is always topping up the bird feed and refilling the bird bath. Catching the 1000 bus to go for a swim and on return must get out the toothbrush and give the many ledges on the dividing doors to dining rom and hall a jolly good clean as OH wants to varnish them when he finishes work. I have strict instructions not to do it myself
An early good morning (at least here) to all:
dibnlib: I keep old toothbrushes for various jobs where I really need to get in the corners, ledges. We're planning to put French doors in between "my" rooom and the kitchen, and maybe between OH's office and the kitchen. I love to do food prep while watching old movies or listening to the news and he likes to listen to music while he's on the computer. Then he likes to watch movies or listen to Book TV while doing crosswords or working on the computer in the evenings, and I watch something else while doing projects in "my" room. We've been trading a pair of old Sony walkman headphones with multiple connection extensions but have decided it might be nice to have doors, especially because I want to start "playing" the piano again.
Diane: OK - so an early dinner at Stella Mares down by the bird preserve! :-)
Must've rained last night because now I see a clear dawn sky - weather man wrong again? How unusual!
Hope everyone's okay.
Afternoon all from TI,
Quiet here today. Everyone must be doing weekend stuff. This morning I participated in a very rare event: A mans clothing shopping mission. Having completed that ordeal Lady P and I had a spot of lunch at The Walled Garden Centre in Elton.
Lindybird : I have just watched Everton beat Man U 3-1 so I dont suppose your OH will be too happy. They were well beaten too.
Weather has been rather pleasant today. Sunny & cold with little wind.
Sunny , dry , Temp 4.4c , Sunrise 07:06 , Sunset 17:22
Afternoon all. It has been absolutely freezing day here. Beautiful sunshine the hole day but temp around some -20C and very strong eastern wind. Last night was the coldest so far this winter, some eastern/northern parts measured forty-something readings. Tomorrow we might get some heavy snowing...yeppii...:( Glad I can stay indoors tomorrow!
Stay safe all and see you tomorrow

Almost forgot, Diane, I too fly in my dreams. Don`t have any wings I just kind of float around and sometimes extremely out of control, but if I go too slowly I do "swimming moves"
Good afternoon Saturday here – sunny, dry, temp 4.5. Birds less obvious today – sure there is someone who feeds them only at weekends, so we see more of them on weekdays! “Fattest Pigeon Ever” is still around – had a really long drink a few minutes ago – fascinating watching, because pigeons drink differently from other birds. We haven’t been doing weekend things – just lazy and not doing anything! Now got three pages to catch up!
Alan – pleased Hamish is doing well – will be thinking of him next Wednesday. Good that you survived the man’s new clothing mission - hope you got what she wanted!
Annette – I freely admit to ready-made pastry! Still thinking about wet room blind – man hasn’t phoned back after my message – I shall probably revert to the pink one which was entirely compatible with the red of the units – sounds awful, but isn’t – I just fancied a change! Pleased your Daughter got signed off by doc, and can swim again. Reminds me of when late M-i-L went for gynae op and was given a leaflet which told her she would be able to ride a bike after three months – she was so pleased because she never ever rode a bike!
Dibnlib – glad you are pleased with the living room and got your celebration lunch out yesterday. We keep toothbrushes for lots of little” nooks and crannies” jobs – better than investing in specially designed little brushes.
Alicat - 7 owlets! Hope there is plenty of food, otherwise we know what might happen to the wee ones.
Diane – so pleased you saw some sunshine Friday – and hope the next storm is going round you – though I suppose rain would wash away the white stuff! Don’t let the house improvement get you down – I think we can always think of the next thing to do, however much we get done, so take it steady.
Auntie – I don’t think even sunshine would compensate for minus 20 temps, especially with the east wind – take care and enjoy your day off!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
