Weekly Chat, Sunday February 14, 2010

Oh my, another week.   How many rosettes did Tweed win at the agility contest? Check Patriciat's late post on last week's blog to find out!  Congratulations Tweed and Patriciat!

  • Good afternoon Brenda H and thanks I am albeit it slowly improving.  I think some warmer weather with sun would help though.  We have had heavy showers all morning after a beautiful day yesterday albeit rather cold.

Have been watching my birds dashing down in between showers getting as much food into themselves as possible.   The pied wagtails don't mind the wet at all as they are in evidence all the time.

Hope you are having a good day.

  • Afternoon Margobird,

It has just started snowing here. Not sticking at the moment but could get worse later.

Here is a link to a series of photos of a juvenile eagle stealing a fish from an adult:

  • Good afternoon dibnlib I had the same trouble getting on the site yesterday and eventually gave up.  Truble is I usually like to reply to individual posts and when there are lots I forget who wrote what, getting old or what.  Hope you enjoyed your swim.

  • Tiger Palemale and Lola just wonderful photographs and new ones on nearly every day.  One of my first ports of call each day.

  • Latest from Dunedin ospreys nesting notes:

2/18/10 - 6:38am both parents in the nest.  8:05am feeding time.  All three chicks still survive, smallest was fed. BW

  • Good afternoon patriciat so pleased your sister is home again, much nicer to recover at home I always think.

I heard what you said about going out in the rain and cold with a chest infection and realise I probably shouldn't have done it.  OH is younger than me and still working.  Goes out at 7.30 to work so didn't like to lumber him with bird duties on a weekday.  I was wrapped up complete with waterproof jacket and hat and didn't spend too much time out there.  I am gradually improving and bird duties today were done in between heavy showers so at least I stayed dry.  I am sure some sun and warmth would make me improve faster but the weather not looking that good for the next few days with even show showers mentioned.

  • Hello Annette thanks I am feeling a little better.  Just need some sun and warmth now and I would improve more quickly.  As I type it is 2pm and have just put a lights on as the sky has gone very dark and it is hammering down with rain.  Hoping there is not going to be a storm as I am terrified of them.

Hope you have a good day.

  • Thanks Alan fantastic pictures.  What a cheeky juvenile.  No snow here but hammering down with rain and has gone very dark so I am hoping that we are not going to have a thunderstorm as I am terrified of them.    Hope you don't get too much of the white stuff.

  • Afternoon all ... couldn't get on here yesterday.

Had a lovely morning at Hauxley Nature Reserve, followed by lunch at HeighleyGate Garden Centre. My partner's car was in for a service, so I picked him up at the garage ... a great excuse for a trip out :)) Didn't see anything unusual at Hauxley, but two thirds of the lake was frozen, making it very pretty. There was a couple of inches of snow lying on the roads inland and of course they weren't gritted.

Thanks to everyone for links/ chat/ pics etc ... very entertaining

Margobird - so glad you are feeling a bit better. My birds are eating me out of house and home just now. I got a new feeding station and thought it would take ages for them to start using it but no ... straight in!! The old bird table is still there so I feel obliged to keep it topped up too!

    Take care all
