Weekly Chat, Sunday February 14, 2010

Oh my, another week.   How many rosettes did Tweed win at the agility contest? Check Patriciat's late post on last week's blog to find out!  Congratulations Tweed and Patriciat!

  • Afternoon all from TI,

Patriciat : Glad your sister is recovering well and great action picture of Tweed.

Terry M : I hope that a new sound card will sort out your computer problems.

Lindybird : Great shot of Buzz. I had a labrador who also loved swimming and retrieving sticks. Just like Buzz he could go on all day.

Thanks for all your good wished regarding the Thunderdog. He has had his operation and is recovering well and I can collect him later this afternoon.

News from the owl nests is that there are 6 live owlets at Star Ranch and 3 eggs now at Valmont.

2 ospreys on the nest now at Hilton Head.

  • Great  news of the Thunderdog, Alan.  Hope he is not too cross with you, afterwards!  Sometimes they manage to make you feel guilty for their discomfort/inconvenience but I'm sure he will be glad to be home.  FAB.

  • Hi all. On the dog theme, a picture of Rio, my neighbour's dog

  • Thanks Lindybird. Great close up of on of the Hilton Head ospreys. It wont be long now:

  • Countdown - - 5  4  3  2  1  ....... !!

  • Morning all: Had to "back into" the site via a "someone has posted a message on your page" notification that took me to my page and from there to here.   Great shots of dogs and osprey. Wonder where EJ is now. Heading your way perchance?

OG: Good that OH is doing better.  We had a new front door put in - has lots of glass - when we bought this house; lightened up the living room a lot.

Diane: How's the house coming along - and your Dad? Will you be finished by the time spring arrives?

Hope Thunderdog is back to his normal self; that Margobird is feeling better and that Lindybird's OH is happy with his veggies. Take care all.

  • Hi there Diane and Lindybird – and anyone else who manages to get on here today!

Door fitters did really well – back doors completed before lunch, now all done.  Not too much cleaning up to do, worked really neatly.  I agree about Annette’s energy levels – always did find her “whizzing” about or “rushing” around, but she seems to be accelerating as the rest of us slow down!

Diane – Son-in-Law and Daughter#2 are with Scottish Natural Heritage, which is the government agency charged with guarding the wildlife, habitats and landscape in Scotland.  They are both managerial now, one monitoring land projects and liaising with other European agencies, the other currently implementing the “equality and diversity” employment policy, but still engaging with environmental issues when possible and hoping to return to field-based work at some stage.

Lindybird – pleased your husband is also feeling better.

Alan – whenever you get around to reading this – thinking of you and Hamish and hope all is going well.

Wrote the above before interruptions!  Now to continue …

Lindybird – lovely action shot of Buzz – obviously loads of energy!

Alan – so pleased Thunderdog has had his surgery and that you can collect him soon.

Gary – nice pic of dog next door.  You’ve been very quiet lately; I hope all is well with you.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Hi Annette - you snuck in while I was writing!  Very pleased with doors - all same design, glass about half depth.  Garage has no window, so will be good not to use lights every time we go in to fetch something.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Glad all has gone well, OG.  Its amazing the difference new doors can make to a place, they can look a lot smarter if your old ones were a bit tired looking, and of course you can feel a lot more secure, too.

  • Our front door is about 2/3 glass (partially patterned/frosted) but we have blinds on the inside to lower at night for privacy.  It's nice in the p.m. since the door is on the Southwest side of the house. Not rushing or whizzing today, but will probably tootle off to the gym later this afternoon.

Gary: I did check out your UK visit photos on Facebook and it looks like you all had a great - if chilly - time. But I see that you managed to deflect the cold with lots of cake and other eats!  Was nice to put faces to names, although I haven't been on Facebook for ages, mostly because I can only handle one chat group at a time!!  You're obviously better at multi-tasking on the 'net than I am.
