Hi everyone.

Quiet day today.  Mainly because a nap turned into several hours sleep.  Must confess to feeling a wee bit low about this.  Thankfully all the bird food preps were done last night, so the birds didn't go hungry.  So I had my dinner, then eventually got round to switching the lap-top on and checking the emails.

Done a wee search on Google a few minutes ago for Parliamo Glasgow.  The Parliamo Glasgow (sometimes Parliamo Glesga) sketches were a serious of sketches done by Stanley Baxter, as a parody of Parliamo Italiano.  I remember first seeing those sketches on TV a number of years ago.  They were several years old even then but even now I still find them side rippingly hilarious.  Even if you've seen these sketches before, go on have a look.  You still laugh your head off.  Or to put it in my native tongue: Ye'll still laffyerheidaff.

Anyway on with the replies.

Diane:  Must say I love the brain fart expression.  Who know perhaps I should pay a visit to Brain Farters Anonymous. LOL.

dibnlib/ Annette:  I've never really understood the whole obsession with height that some people have.  Why should people be seen as different just because they're a few inches taller that the people around then.  Sadly I think girls probably get picked on far more if they are very tall and to hear of teachers picking on people because of how tall they are, shows a lot of small-mindedness on the teacher's part.  I mean I'm not the tallest chap in the world, standing at around five foot five and a half inches or maybe five foot six.  So I've had it from the other end of the scale, especially in my teenage years when I was even shorter than I am now.  In a way I can sort of understand kids using another person's height as a stick to beat them with but you'd think (pardon the pun) that it's something people would've grown out of by the time they'd reached adulthood.

Lindybird:  Chocolate fudge cake with ice-cream sounds brilliant, no matter what pace it's eaten at.  Thanks for posting the Ginger Pud recipe.  Thanks for the new blog notice.

Alan:  Tell Hamish thanks for being so understanding.  Thanks so much for the tablet recipe link.

Margobird:  Sorry to hear you have a chest infection.  Hopefully the antibiotics do their stuff and tell that infection where to get to, as quick as possible.

George:  Muddy Boots is a great name for a farm shop.  Tablet is wonderful stuff.  Okay I know it's about a zillion calories per square cm but I'm a massive fan.

Caerann:  Brilliant to hear you're entertained by sparrows and starlings, at the dining table.  Just done a Google video search on Dark-eyed Juncos.  They're brilliant birds.

Apologies if I've missed anyone or anything out but for some reason it's taken me ages to write this post.

Evening all: Site seems to have been playing up again  - very, very slow - and that's when you can actually get on.  Anyway, showed up for my whale shift just in time to miss three northbound whales disappearing into the haze and way too late to see the two that had passed even earlier. What we did see today was a huge pod of dolphins - Mike (project coordinator) estimated between 300 and 400 of them - whizzing past us about 1 ½ miles out, some of them leaping completely out of the water. They were traveling almost in single file; apparently called a “parade” formation; then they turned and headed out toward the islands in what Mike said was a “chorus line.”  No idea what got them all excited!   It was busy out at the point today; it was Presidents’ Day and with the university closed; many of the students were at the beach surfing or looking at the surf or looking at the girls looking at the surf, which has been very big this year, what with the storms.

Tish: So good to see you! We miss you. But feeling down? Oh no. Glad that Alan’s link cheered you up. Here’s a big hug. Come back any time you need one.

Gary: What exactly are flapjacks? They sound like pancakes, but….

OG: Sounds like a lovely time with the family. Agree with you about Sassy. She looks very frail.

Heron Are you sure you were awake when you hit the “Post” key  - or was it just the site playing up??  J))  Not surprised you slept a lot; after all, you were up late last night! Don’t know Parliamo Italiano - or Glasgow. I’ll check out Google.  Brain Farters Anonymous!?  I’m sure there’s already a group like that, especially here in California.  I didn’t get picked on because of my height; I think it was a combination of being self-conscious as a teenager and then not being able to “hide.”

Hope the site is better tomorrow - typed the post in Word and it looks weird; hope it translates okay. Take care all.

Morning All.   The sun is trying to peep through here, but it is  deceptive as outside its really cold.

Had a couple of tries to get onto the site this morning, & notice that you had some problems in the night,so perhaps its all playing up again.

Going back to check up on some of the links mentioned lately-  that Tablet sounds like the immoral kind of treat which I usually enjoy ....  (Said to a friend, this week:   "It's true, that old song we used to hear about 'It's Illegal, Its Immoral, or it Makes You Fat!' ")

Husband has been feeling a bit 'off' for a couple of days but has now gone out hoping a bit of fresh air will help.  There are a lot of germy things spreading around at present, so we hope to avoid them if possible. Laughed at the thought of the Olympics Opening Ceremony with lots of Monty Python Funny Walks,  there could also be dozens of mophead Beatles singing "I Wanna Hold Your Hand", dancing around some mock red telephone boxes.  Or even some British Bobbies in the old fashioned helmets, singing songs from Mary Poppins ... "A Spoonful of Sugar??"

Off to tidy up the house, & examine my collection of holiday clothes, to see which ones still fit.

OG We stop at Bruar both on the way down and back and nearly always buy  something. It is just a pity that most of the dog walking area is now car park. We often eat there on the journey and find it reasonable value, as is Bankfoot.. There is a place at Grantown we always thought we would try ( The Glass House ) Can't recommend Craggan Mill. Went there once and had average food at expensive prices, but maybe we are just fussy

Heron – I was going to comment on your falling asleep being due to staying up half the night, but you have already been told by Annette!  Did you know that part of your late night post came on three times then, as well as being in your longer post this morning?  The site is definitely doing strange things!!

Annette – sorry the whales passed by before you started your shift – but dolphins sound wonderful in such large numbers!  Flapjacks are oaty, sweet and yummy – nothing like pancakes - will let Gary give you the details!

Lindybird – slightly misty here – maybe barometer is about to swing again.  Hope your OH feels better after fresh air, and that neither of you catch anything nasty.  Mine has a cold, so hoping my mini-cold last week was enough to build some immunity.  Hope your holiday wardrobe fits – or maybe not if you want an excuse to shop!

Auntie – good morning.  I think we are all having trouble with site this morning.  “Suet” is made from rendered animal fat – but you can buy vegetarian suet too.  I have tried to find a translation online but have not succeeded.

Dibnlib – thanks for note about Grantown eating places – will avoid Craggan Mill!  We have listed two farm-shop/cafes to try on journeys – one at Bankfoot and one at Stanley.

Must get something done this morning – two appointments this afternoon.
