Happy new week folks!  Don't foget to check the last few posts of the previous week. Heron posted a photo of a female reed bunting,  AQ saw a "ginormous flock of corellas" (must Google that!),  OG has found a nice B&B for her trip, Alan posted a nifty shot of the changing of the guard at the eagle nest, folks are wondering how Diane is doing with the storm the big storm back  East, and much, much more!  :-)  We had almost 2 inches of rain in Santa Barbara today, which is brilliant.  Still sorting files and likely to be doing so for a day or three to come.  Take care all.

  • Hi Margobird - no snow here - a few flurries yesterday, but bitterly cold in glorious sunshine today! yes that egg does look lonely ... hopefully mum will be back soon . and that there will be more eggs before long. Off out for lunch now - catch up later.

Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

  • Thanks DjoanS enjoy your lunch and don't worry about the healthy bit, you need lots of food to keep warm at the moment.  Not feeling brilliant but taking it easy apart from looking after my birds.

  • Good morning Diane and relieved to see you on.  Thought about you last night when I waswatching Fox  News and they had a map showing the extent of the storm.  It looked absolutely horrendous.  Keep warm and safe won't you.

  • aquilareen Glad it is cooling down for you a bit and yes I would like some of your warmth.  I hate the cold weahter and will be glad when Spring eventually arrives.

  • Afternoon everyone from TI,

Annette : Loved the picture of the Ford truck. I nearly always buy Ford cars and I find that they rarely let me down.

Margobird:I hope you will be feeling better soon. We had a couple of centimetres of snow overnight and I also had to defrost the birdbath. Most of the snow has gone now but it is cloudy with a bitter wind. I have been watching the Estonian webcam and there was a beautiful jay on it earlier. I enjoy listening to the sound of the birds echoing through the forest. It is almost like being there. There is also some more info about racoon dogs on the home page.

Paul : Loved your photos and thanks for sharing.

Have to go and see to the Thunderdog now. Catch up later.

  • 2 eagles in the forest in Estonia:

  • morning/afternoon/evening all:)

Annette, great truck and love the colours:) So dependable. Always wondered about a fan with A/C LOL

Brenda, enjoy lunch. i think you said you had 6 inches of snow. Wow! Take care

Margobird, hope you feel better soon, sorry you are under the weather.

AQ , glad you had some rain, although not much by the sound of it!!

    Alan, thanks for the pics.

    Lindybird, enjoy the film:)

Well, i didn't get the snow as bad as they were predicting. We had about the 6/8 inches (haven't been out yet) but nothing like New York or Washington. Not often I feel sorry for those in the Capitial but I do at the moment!! Still, our nice plough man came at 6am and we can get out when we need to.

  • correction, a measily 4-5 inches:((

  • Gary, in my opinion 5'' is enough snow. I also feel extremely sorry for those people in Washington. I gather some of them have still got no power. Our snow yesterday was melting and then turned to black ice by the evening. Then the 'proper' snow started overnight and of course, the roads were treacherous this morning. It stopped snowing a couple of hours ago but no sign of a thaw yet. At least, we are warm and have food. I can't imagine what it is like for those people, for whatever reason, don't have a home and sleep on the streets. As you will gather we didn't go out for lunch, it was safer to stay at home.
