Happy new week folks! Don't foget to check the last few posts of the previous week. Heron posted a photo of a female reed bunting, AQ saw a "ginormous flock of corellas" (must Google that!), OG has found a nice B&B for her trip, Alan posted a nifty shot of the changing of the guard at the eagle nest, folks are wondering how Diane is doing with the storm the big storm back East, and much, much more! :-) We had almost 2 inches of rain in Santa Barbara today, which is brilliant. Still sorting files and likely to be doing so for a day or three to come. Take care all.
Margobird, we all make typing errors, it was only that I found your first one so amusing, otherwise I wouldn't have commented. True, what you say about a cold though. I think you always start feeling worse by late afternoon / evening. Take care.
Hi Caerann, 14" snow and an earthquake! What a way to start your day. So glad you are safe and well and can't believe you managed to sleep through the earthquake, when everything is shaking and rattling around you.
Thanks for the photo Careann. Looks nice fluffy stuff. The snow hasn't really got going yet here they keep saying "anytime now!) Interesting about the earthquake. Not sure i would have slept through it!! LOL
Caerann: Here is a link to details of your earthquake:

Hi everyone. It's cold here but the sky has been a funny light blue colour and today I saw a strange round yellow thing among the light blue colouring. Now what is interesting about the strange yellow thing is that you don't seem to be able to look at it without some form of eye protection. If your eyes are not protected when looking at the round yellow thing, it can lead to varying amounts of discomfort. I have also noticed that the round yellow thing has the ability to melt ice and frost. I have reason to believe this strange round yellow thing is called "the sun".Took a trip to RSPB Lochwinnoch, yesterday afternoon, to get some bird food. Amazing amount of chaffinches and managed to get a few pictures of male reed buntings. I wonder if any of them know the female that turned up in my garden. It was great to see the fieldfares, and some mallards appeared to be opining that I was "quackers".Lots of brilliant post since I last logged in here. Brilliant pictures, so thanks to all who posted them. Anyway apologies for the condensed form of reply in this post. Here's a couple of pictures.
A happy Tuesday to everyone.
Paul.
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
3rd osprey chick at Dunedin. I am getting to like this place more and more:
"Delightful Dunedin, with its rich Scottish heritage, is home to the Annual Highland Games "
Great photo's Paul, thanks very much
Glad you saw that mythical globe thingy...lol
Good evening Wednesday. Busy this week so quickly caught up since Sunday. It has been very bright and sunny but cold here all week so far, and is set to continue (probably until the weekend, when we would like to get out and enjoy it...). Thanks as always for everyone's pics and links.
OG, if you put the place on my page I could delete it after reading! I usually start there.
AQ, loved that very pink cake, I always bake cakes to take to work for my birthday, so I can do my favourites. What pretty birds those honeyeaters are, thanks for the pic. Glad I'm not staying with you in those temps.
Caerann, loved those finches, have sent it to all my musician friends. My dad used to have zebra finches when I was young, so sweet.
Terry in Cumbria
Snow melted away here after a brief attempt to look pretty. Didn't get to see little Meg the Puppy yet, as her 'Mum' has been unwell for a couple of days. Interesting discussion re the racoon dogs. Never heard of them before.
Glad that Diane is surviving all those snow storms: Loved your description of swimming with the dolphins, Diane, what a memory to keep. Also thanks for great trumpet vine picture, they look how I imagined.
Gary: Every girl needs new shoes, once in a while!!
og: Great that your son is now set up with the flat organised. Hope all goes well with the move.
Tiger: What an absolutely amazing pic of the shuttle launch - I said to Husband, "come here, you just have to see this!" - thanks for posting the link. Have put in in my favourites list to look at the other pics sometime.
Glad that you slept through the drama, Caerann, what a couple of days you've had, earthquakes & deep snow too. At least you are all OK.
Margobird: Sorry to hear about your cold. Do keep in the warm & let someone else feed the birds for you. I agree that we have so many webcams now, its hard to keep up.
Heron: Just saw your pics of the birds, they are lovely.
I know we've not heard from Wattle lately, but I seem to dimly remember her saying she was going to have a busy time & probably would not post for a while, so I'm sure shes OK.
Went to visit Sister in Law today, shes looking after her grandaughter who is not yet 2. Such dimples! Wish I had a photo to post, so you could all smile, she is such a charmer. (just read that back, & I should say, I mean that the child is a charmer, although on reflection, Husbands sister is also quite a gal!!)
Hello to everyone not mentioned here, there are so many of us now its hard to reply to all posts but I do so enjoy reading them all.
Hi there, Wednesday evening. Sorry to hear about snow in parts of UK as well as US – nothing here, sun stayed bright all day. Loads of posts to read – so, before I follow a few specifics, to everyone, I have enjoyed reading them all, following links, seeing pix etc.
Margobird – sorry you caught the cold – hope it goes as quickly as mine did – I was only bad for one day, and that’s with reduced immunity, so I was very lucky.
George G – I when I read your post, I had an image of your avatar striding along saving the planet – but thanks for doing your bit!
Gary – when we had the big snow at Christmas/New Year, the “spare snow” was heaped up in various disused railway sidings and on car parks. Hope your afternoon and evening snow has not been so bad as forecast. Son got delayed on his railway journey home to Dau’s house today – something to do with smoking brakes on the train. Quite funny actually, as he was travelling this time on a ticket bought with a compensation voucher from another delayed journey last autumn!
Caerann – snowy and shaky – my word you do live dangerously! Pleased the quake was no worse – but still quite strong, don’t know how you slept through it!
Heron – so pleased you have seen male Reed Buntings too – handsome birds too. One day we shall get around to visiting Lochwinnoch – seen lots of pix from there in the galleries threads.
Terry – will do - after this.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
