Happy new week folks!  Don't foget to check the last few posts of the previous week. Heron posted a photo of a female reed bunting,  AQ saw a "ginormous flock of corellas" (must Google that!),  OG has found a nice B&B for her trip, Alan posted a nifty shot of the changing of the guard at the eagle nest, folks are wondering how Diane is doing with the storm the big storm back  East, and much, much more!  :-)  We had almost 2 inches of rain in Santa Barbara today, which is brilliant.  Still sorting files and likely to be doing so for a day or three to come.  Take care all.

  • Alan, seeing the snowdrops really is a  cheering sight, but I think our garden must be very confused, as it is now all covered in snow. I noticed a blogger from Lancashire, on the other forum ,showed a photograph of a primrose in flower yesterday.

  • Thanks Tiger. I was just looking at their camera. That is what I would call true dedication. Poor Birds.

  • Here is another pic of one very Happy Dog! for those of you who enjoyed the other one....

This is his 'drowned rat' impression, when he's been diving in for sticks. Never happier.

Have just returned from his annual Check-up at the Vets, this morning:  she was a new vet, & said "I can't believe the age we have down for him:  he doesn't look it, & he's as fit as a flea!"  I told her that it was because he probably eats better than we do, & is spoiled rotten by Husband.

  • Oh my, just how happy can a dog look, one heart stealing fella!

Re raccoon dogs, they are not an "original species" here, but we do have them. I think mainly in eastern Finland. Every now and then they cause a rabies problem to foxes, wolves, dogs etc, then government (?) launch a project where bytes with vaccination is scattered around where the raccoon dogs are known to live

  • Hi auntie.  Interesting about the 'racoon dogs' as we havn't heard of them before. ( Being an island,we are able to control the incidence of rabies & don't have it at present.)

Now snowing here, after having some of the hail earlier mentioned.  Don't know if it will 'stick'.

  • Good afternoon Lindybird we have had snow showers here in Poole this morning.  One lasted for about 30 minutes and was starting to settle but sun came out again and it went.  It was quite heavy but I had to smile about my pair of pied wagtails that visit as they don't seem to mind rain or snow.  All the other birds disappear but they just keep eating.  Lovely little birds to watch.

    Have a good afternoon.

  • Lindybird love the pic of a very happy dog, what a sweetheart he is and no wonder he is spoiled by your husband.  Good to know he had a good vet check up.

  • Good afternoon Alan we have had a couple of quite heavy snow showers this morning but nothing like the female eagle on the Hampton webcam is having to withstand at the moment.  I find it quite upsetting to see her covered in snow and it must be very windy as the nest is swaying from side to side.

Is it just me or have they moved the Estonian eagle cam closer to the action.

  • Good afternoon Brenda H I I must take more care when I am typing, I only saw it when I had hit the post button so couldn't stop it.

  • Good Afternoon, Margobird, If you press 'edit' after you have posted, you can amend your post. I waited to see if that is what you would do, but I must admit I had to laugh. How are you feeling now ?  We are still getting heavy snow showers but warnings for E. Sussex are not forecast 'till tonight.  I would think our American friends would prefer our small snow amounts though.
