No news of Nora and just an empty nest to see :-((
Margobird
TWEET from Dyfi ... Monty has been favouring the lower perches today, because of the wind, apart from a fishing trip he's been around the nest all day.

I'm still feeling it for Monty :(
So poor Monty is still home alone, surely there must be other females around
The more you rush, the longer it takes
It is so sad that Nora has not returned by now, and I feel that if we don't see her by the W/End, that we may have lost her :'-( I just hope that if there are any passing females, that one sticks around, and hopefully they will bond, if it's too late for a family this year, then hope they'll 'both' be back next season to breed.
I agree NiteOwl, I would like to see him pair up if its not to be with Nora.
Likewise. I think there can't have been any passing females since Elin (the one Monty missed by a day), or they would have been mentioned. Judging by previous years they will come sooner or later, though. I am hoping Nora's niece, blue 12, shows up again - she certainly knows where the nest is, and not having bred last year, she would quite likely be a bit later returning.
Does anyone know what is happening at the new nest in South Wales? It was put up last year.
I really feel for the guys at Dyfi. They've really not had much luck in the area in the past year with the loss of the osprey chicks and other tragedies (viz little April Jones). Despite all of this, I always get a really good upbeat feel from the team there and hope there is a happy outcome for everyone there this year. I'm sure Monty will be fine, even without a mate for the one year. He only looks sad because we think he should be looking sad. Don't forget he spends more than half the year alone in any case down in Africa or wherever so, other than the need to breed, he's used to being solitary. And on that note, I'll bid you all goodnight. Let's see what tomorrow brings, fingers crossed.
