Rutland Osprey Team off to Africa next week
Mike thank you for your reply and we may all not agree but the one thing I do agree with is I admire Rutland Water and without question they have a lot of contacts and every effort was made to find 09/98 and I do not explain well at times but there is no proof of an eagle owl. On a positive note lets hope 1 or both his young return and that would be fantastic.
I apologise if I have offended and look forward to the book.

No you are correct that is exactly what happened plus, and as a result of, the satellite tag. The details are here should you wish to re-read.

Birdies LG DU update.
Without 09 carrying a camera in his transmitter to conclusively show that an eagle owl took him while roosting the cause of his demise can only be based on an educated guess by people who are more knowledgeable than the majority of the public. The fact that Farid recovered 09's remains speaks volumes to me to the commitment of Rutland and to Farid for trekking in inhospitable terrain to do so. Nothing will bring back 09 sadly and he is another victim of the dangers ospreys and other wildlife face no matter where they are - some more so than most.
Thank you Tempo you have backed up what I was trying to say and it is not conclusive that an Eagle Owl took 09.
RW and Farid found 09 in very difficult terrain and joint efforts have to be recognised. I do think RW are brilliant but was only trying to say there is no proof of an Eagle Owl.
I sometimes do make a mistake in how I write and never wanted to offend and until proved then no truth. I also said that he could have been snagged and predated on the ground. Now is that not an option? Yes only an educated guess.
RW are fantastic and never ever said anything before and the efforts to find 09 fantastic and he was found and we can all guess.
John Wrights pics from Gambia & Senegal trip.
Thank you so much ALAN for the link.
I am lost in admiration for John's stunning pictures and what a host of gorgeous birds
Wonder what can be done about educating local fishermen not to discard their old nets in the sea?
Thanks Alan. Some superb photographs to view.
Alan thanks, really wonderful set of photo's, and beautiful birds some I've never seen before. It is a shame we can't get more help out on the coast to clean up all those nets and rubbish, also someone to help the fishermen to see how dangerous to wildlife their nets can be.
