Rutland Osprey Team off to Africa next week
Hi, Mims - Limpy and I will be visiting this nest tomorrow! I'm looking forward to it.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Morning Clare:-) WHAT???? Oooohhh you're going to Rutland tomorrow!! Brilliant. I'm sure you and Limpy will have a great time - and Limpy is going to be snap happy there I think lol
Here's a little clip of the mating attempt earlier, around 09.45ish

Thanks, Mims. I hate to think how many photos he'll take......he's been dying to get there ever since the first bird returned.
LOL Clare:-) Well, from previous photos, I think a treat is in store if Limpy is so kind as to post a couple on here
Not if, Mims, when!! He loves his photography and it makes him so happy to read all of the nice comments. I suspect he's better at it than he thinks he is.
16.00 One bird present, stood up and flew away to reveal one egg. Quickly returned and both Mr and Mrs now, very quick mating attempt.
A minute later and one bird alone. It looks like eating to begin with but then nestorising, and settling down on the egg.
I notice the egg cup is indeed to the side, but the sticks provide an excellent barrier with enough room. Perhaps this was to enable whichever bird incubating could look out over the edge easier.
1630. Wow the water looks so blue....
And Mrs is having a doze as she broods
Good to see the sun on the 5R nest - brooding in the sun beats the rain last year :-)
