Hi everyone. Happy Sunday! As usual, check out the last few entries of the previous week's chat to find out who left a plant at the supermarket checkout counter and ate a bag of chocolate donuts for lunch.
Brought Oro for home visit today; was lovely and sunny and daughter sat in the garden feeding him treats. He had a little snooze and then while my daughter took a nap Oro and I went to the beach and walked along the grassy area behind the sand for about a mile or so. (No trash cans to crash into!) Marvellous afternoon with brisk breeze and big surf, but now they're forecasting more rain for Monday through Wednesday!

I think this is what you wanted, Cirrus - and great to "hear" you chatting again. Hope you are doing OK.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Morning all
I haven't posted for a few days, although I have been reading! I was overtaken by a need to re-organise the living room, which has turned out to be a mammoth operation :((( What I intended to be a small clear-out just grew - like Topsy!! Still not finished but am having a breather for a few days before I do the rest.
Cirrus - great to see you back posting on here - hope all is well with you
Too many other people to mention by name, but I have loved reading comments, looking at photos and following up links :))
Take care
Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

Morning all from TI,
Nice to see you back Cirrus and you are correct. There are only 8 weeks to go. The excitement is almost palpable. Imagine what it will be like towards the end of March.
Good news is that car passed its MOT and I taxed it today.
Weather here today is dreich and the sunshine total for this month must be a new low. Last I heard it was only 8 hours in total where the average is around 35.
Overcast & Gloomy,dry , Temp 2.6c , Uncomfortably cold , Sunrise 07:49 . Sunset 16:37
Morning everyone have been keeping up with all the blogs and links although I haven't been posting. glad to see all who have been poorly are recovering but I think the dreich weather we are having does not help in the recovery. I was interested in what has been said about the quality of life and I think that the bill that Margo McDonald is trying to get through the Scottish parliament has a lot of sense to it, also when you hear what the judge said about the woman who helped her daughter to die shows that there is a need for some thing to be done to the law as it stands in this country I don,t know about the US and Australia. I will stop my rant now as today we have got some sunshine and things are starting to dry up. Will have to go shopping this afternoon as I am out of some essentials. Will go to farm shop nearby to top up veg and they also have a very nice coffee shop with some lovely home baking.

Apologies for any gobbledegook that precedes or ends this comment – I’ve typed it in Word whilst waiting for the page to load.
Drink a coffee for me George ! How nice that someone can see the sun.
Original Goldfinch: many thanks for the link. It’s exactly what I want but as soon as I arrive at the page in Firefox browser it crashes the browser (have informed Mozilla) and in Internet Explorer I cannot find anything to click on that starts the video !!!!!!!!!!!! :(
Thank you DjoanS and Alan for your greeting.
Nice to see you Cirrus hope you are keeping well. Sorry you are still having problems with your PC

Hello Alan glad your car passed its MOT.
Very cold here especially first thing, temperature down to -4 overnight so it was back to defrosting the bird baths duty. We had sun yesterday with the most beautiful sunset I have seen in a long time.
Tyring to multi-task between tennis and,, Lily and her cub who is very vocal today, lots of squeals and keeping her Mum very busy. Think the cub has just been fed as there are a lot of contented little noises now. There are lots of links to all things bear on Lily's facebook, this is just one of them but you can hear what it sounds like when there is more than one cub.

Have a good afternoon.
Hello Diane tied to post a reply this morning but everything went very slow, don't know if it was just me or the site was a bit iffy.
I could write a book about my time in the Army. I was trained as a teleprinter operator with the Royal Corp of Signals which has stood me in good stead as I was taught to touch type. I was only in for 2 years as on a routine check for an eye test I was found to have quite severe retina problems and much to my disappointment was medically discharged because the nature of work that I did was of a highly sensitive nature and I could well have been a security risk. At that ime nobody knew what could be done about the problem but after 12 years when things were getting quite desparate and I could have lost my sight entirely but as you know there are medical advances all the time, and it reached a point when I had to have something done about it. They managed to save one eye but with limited vision but after 2 more operations on my other eye they could not save it. My eyesight was always a bit of a family joke because I would walk past my own parents and not see them. Of course at that time we had no inkling that anything was wrong. Even with the limited vision I was always able to work right up until I was 63 in secretarial positions, It is amazing how you can cope. Had a rough time when I developed a cataract on the eye I can see from but after a year I had it removed and since then no more trouble although I have regular check ups as you can imagine. With only one eye it is important this is done in case anything does occur. For all that I have had a happy life and have never regretted by time in the Army.
Hope you are having a good day.
Wine for me these days Annette but only a small one I have to say. I used to ride pillion passenger on an old boyfriend's motor bike. I wonder I didn't fall off. The main thing about getting older is that you have a lot more fear of things whereas when you are younger you can't see danger in anything.
Have a good day.
