  Tempo I couldn't agree more. You know it makes me wonder....I used to think: "lots of birds migrate with their young and maintain a relationship with them. It's a sad fact (and an interesting one) that ospreys go it alone so why do they do this?" I'm beginning to think that it's a blessing to be so detached and independent, as so many perish, especially when young, and it would be one grief after another for the parents if they were more of a 'family unit' after fledging.

Sandra thanks for posting the photo mentioned above. I am thinking of you at the moment and like many others hope that dear Ceulan is OK. I always think of him as your 'boy' because you watched over him so much x

Nightowl  thanks for the lovely clear photo of dear Alba. She really was a stunner wasn't she? It sounds stupid but I still can't get used to the idea that she's gone.

Thank you Mims, it is very kind of you to say that. I do feel very protective of him, maybe because he is Welsh and has had a bad start in his life.

I think we all feel the same way about him and his struggle to survive! :-)
