  • I am also very surprised SCYLLA - hope she (Fearna) doesn't leave it much longer . May the winds stay in the right direction for her  whenever she goes.

EDIT - checking back a page -  you're not the only one TEMPO  !!    and many thanks - CHLOE    JSB   and MIKE

Haven't been around for a couple of days cos I've had a Trojan scare and wondered if I'd picked it up on RD's site, but I don't think  so . Anyway , all should be OK now . Just ordinary things like .... oh yes, it's a work evening , sigh.

Good day to you all   :)

  • Here's something.

(The osprey, a protected raptor symbolic of wetland habitats, is regularly found on the site during the migration period.)

They say that the group of lakes are surrounded by an overgrown swamp. (Literally a forest swamp.)

Fearna - Still stopping over in north Devon

I wonder how she's faring in the nasty weather, and if she may be encouraged to move on?

    [/quote]

Scylla other than any reported sitings by Devon birders, we will just have to wait to Roy updates the website, probably she will have stayed put if the weather was really bad.

  • RD has put a brief message on his home page, as follows, Fiddich and Morven's news is new, the rest seem unchanged. OK Red8T has arrived as expected.

  • A reply from Stephanie at the Etangs Noir and Blanc about Blue44 and there is no evidence that would support the suggestion that he was with his dad. Here is the reply, which I shall copy onto the LotL thread as well. (The reply came in just before 10pm)

    Bonjour,

Hello, indeed I saw 2 ospreys that day (the day of the sighting reported on Faune-aquitaine)  but there was no fishing together nor other behavior which could have let  me think of an adult with his young… moreover the other bird had a ring and it seems that the male of the scottish couple is not carrying a ring. (this is garbled...need more time to decipher!!) (I think it means this....the other osprey with the young (Blue 44), it had a ring, but I understand that 'dad' does not have a ring, therefore since this one did have a ring, then he could not be 'dad')....... Blue 44 is always on the sector of the ponds black and white. We observed him today fishing and then to eat his fish. We saw 3 ospreys on the white pond: blue 44, a ringed male which has been there for 2 days and a third migratory bird which stopped on the pond to fish.

    Hi,

That looks spot-on to me. I'm not sure that they would like you calling their beautiful lakes PONDS though!!!

I wonder who the ringed adult is, maybe another Scottish one?

    Best wishes
