Welcome ALL to a new week from chilly Adelaide (4.0 C min overnight here near the beach).

  • HEATHER    It is nice to be of help, but of course your family comes first.

Dillon back to vets this evening and she syringed the blood out and syringed a steroid fluid in. Hoping not to have to operate. Back again next Wed unless it causes him grief in the meantime.

MARGO,  think you asked about dental bill/ bank loan!! The RCT will be done on NHS charges as will a metal crown, if however he wants a porcelain crown that will be private work. It is towards the back, but he hasn't decided what to do yet.

Had another painting reframed today, took it this am and it was ready at lunchtime. Same frame as the last time and this is now hung in the dining room after having spent some time languishing against the wall in a spare room. This one is a print of "Sunset over Arran"

  •  finally an soooo cute babe rescued and doing well. Member of the public spotted him alone but left him in case his family were around. He returned 24 hours later and babe was in obvious distress so he picked him up and contacted the appropriate people for help.   OG   this was in D & G.. They have called him Noah and hope to return him to the wild when ready.

  • Yup - Kirtle Water is about 6 miles along from us towards Gretna!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Hi dibnlib - have I missed something - like a picture or a previous post - what so cute babe??  Have been having PC problems all evening!!

  • Evening all: Had fun Skyping g'daughter and Delilah today. Somehow got home later than planned, then BBQ'd salmon and asparagus; hoping to have a quieter weekend but things are piling up...

Heather: Re your neighbor, I guess there aren't any "Dial-a-Ride" options in the area? (It's one of several services here that will take seniors to local shopping malls, stores, etc., for a nominal fee).  I do understand your reluctance to start providing transportation service, especially as you already have so much going on in your own family. I know I could do with an extra hour or so in the day, just to relax.

dibnlib: I've missed something about Dillon (thought he was on the mend) and also missed something about a critter that was apparently rescued....? Thanks for the smiles!

Hi to everyone else! Have a good Friday.

  • Here's to a wonderful Olympics all you UK folks!!

  • I won't be watching the O***s opening ceremony as it starts 5 am. Yesterday I'd taken myself to city library but found I'd left my paperwork home. So I spent 2 hours browsing the books in the Ready Reference section. Ho hum. I'm not losing it, am I? Out to dinner last eve, it poured with rain after we set out. We had 2 waiters - OK, one was a learner. Now I only ever have one glass of wine, after I've eaten half my main course. The wine waiter took it into his head to bring 2 bottles and 2 glasses and allow me a taste testing. Oh dear, 2 mouthfuls on an empty tum and I was rather befuddled for the rest of the night.
Emmentaler-stuffed chicken with asparagus, proscuito-wrapped beans and saffron & duck fat roasted chat potatoes. Delish.

OH had Onkaparainga Valley venison medallions, button, shitake & Enoki mushrooms and sweet soy and cabernet glaze. It tasted much better than it looks.

I had Creme brulee, what else!!!. Super delish.

Cheese platter - double cream cheese (France) & blue (Italy)

If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.

Multi-tasking means making a mess of several things at once.

To err is human, to blame it on someone else shows management potential.

Teamwork is essential; it allows you to blame someone else.

The best way to succeed in life is to act on the advice you give to others.

Opportunity knocks only once, but temptation bangs on the door for years.

  • Morning all: Good grief! Where is everyone - getting ready to watch the Opening Ceremony perchance?

AQ: I'm sure I gain weight just looking at those dishes.  Love the Friday smiles!
