I have always felt that we should have a thread for EJ as well as Odin.
My countdown clock says that we might expect her to swoop into Loch Garten 76 days from now. I hjope it has warmed up by then.

Unknown said: EJ is just a fantastic osprey and is always aware of her familys needs. She vigourously defends the nest when she has to. She protects her young through all sorts of extreme Scottish weather and she even fishes for them when she thinks the time is right. She has fledged 14 chicks at LG, 6 now with Odin as her mate. Hopefully in years to come this will be seen as a great osprey dynasty with returning young to swell the osprey numbers.

Think you have summed up EJ beautifully there, Alan.
Have just been reading back on this thread & it does seem a long while ago that we were gleefully counting down to EJ's return this year. We were not to know then, what a highly successful year it was to be - 3 wonderfully healthy lively (!) chicks. Lots of blissful osprey watching. Many changes in the weather. Odin's amazing fishing skills & dedication to his family. Here's hoping next year EJ can repeat herself in keeping us all engrossed in the LG Osprey saga.
The lump in my throat is too big - just, thanks for your your comments
Just been catching up with this thread and I echo everything said about wonderful EJ. She sat through all kinds of inclement weather brooding her eggs and then when they hatched took care to feed each one to ensure they all had a good start to their lives. She is magnificent and I look forward to many more years of our beloved EJ and her wonderful partner Odin. Just reading through I agree with Cirrus brings a big lump to the throat now we know they will be leaving us soon. Long may she and Odin reign.

It would be good if people posted more pictures of EJ in here. It is usually no problem to ID EJ but we just had such a moment.
EJ brought in a fish of the season at 9.30am on Saturday 21st August.
Will this be her last fish of the 2010 season?
