I have always felt that we should have a thread for EJ as well as Odin.
My countdown clock says that we might expect her to swoop into Loch Garten 76 days from now. I hjope it has warmed up by then.
Tiger Signature
Tiger Thanks!! This is great information
Do you know when EJ left each year prior to these return dates?
She left late last year so will that affect her return date this year?
Formerly known as Barbara Jean
I do have that information but not immediately available. I do know that EJ left one year before the last chick had fledged (2004 ) when she left on 31st July. See http://www.osprey2005.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/LochGarten2004.pdf
2005 She left early because she was depressed after Henry had his first egg kicking fit.
2006 ?
2007 EJ left on 19th August.
2008 We all remember Nethy and Deshar. EJ left on 14th August.
2009 EJ left on 27th August
Will check out the rest later unless someone chooses to do it
.
This is good to know because if EJ is quite late this year we can "try" not to panic
The countdown clock on my desktop says 21hrs 37mins and 20 seconds
Can't wait to look in tomorrow morning, now, on the webcam!!
Tiger you are very optimistic that EJ will return tomorrow!! If so , her winter rest will be shorter than in other years
That is a very good point Barbara. It is all to do with what triggers migration. Some people think that it is the heigh of the sun in the sky. Analysis has been done on this sort of thing but I do not think anyone knows. If watching ospreys has taught me anything then it is "ospreys know best".
A part of me does not want EJ to arrive today because I cannot be around to see it.
Well you haven't missed anything up to now Tiger. No sign of EJ so far.
ChloeB & Tiger's Osprey Data
5:07 UK Time. I just checked the LG nest. No EJ .
However, she certainly has her work cut out for her when she returns . The nest is a mess!!
But there is some fresh moss stuff put out for her Barbara Jean. The sides of the nest certainly need building up.
