I have always felt that we should have a thread for EJ as well as Odin.
My countdown clock says that we might expect her to swoop into Loch Garten 76 days from now. I hjope it has warmed up by then.
Tiger Signature
I think that the new boy is S18
I don't understand Tiger. He has a blue ring not a black/white ring and has XD not S18 on it.

Yes but he has got all the right features. Ringed in 2000 X8 and partner to Green J
S18 was referred to as Black 8X - S18 is just his sattelite track.
Wher does Blue XD come from.
All we know he is the other half of Green J - so she has turned up in records after all.

There is a mistake somewhere.
Yes the rest fits the bill - OH of Green J caught at Rothiemurchus and ringed by Roy and an old pairing. Everything fits the bill apart from Black 8X.
To complicate matters further, an old flame of Green J's was blue XB, the Norwegian-born, Rothiemurchus-ringed bird we were discussing recently (her 2001 fling, and father of chicks raised by - we thought - black 8X...) Looks as if the X rings were used for birds ringed as adults?
I wondered if black 8X had lost his original ring & blue XD is his new ID. There are plenty of other examples to show this happens (most recently, of course, AA(06)/ blue AW at Rutland).
Relax S18 does not kick eggs out of the nest.
The migration of S18 is discussed on page 100 of "Life of Ospreys".
Yes, but the question this time is, which example will Odin follow?!

As Captain Mainwaring would say "Waiting to see how long before you spot that one" :) :)
