Maureen - assume you downloaded GE before? If not, just go to http://earth.google.com/ and click on the Download Google Earth 5 button at right. I can't remember right now how to load Rothes and Mallachie's route; perhaps someone else will let you know if you need additional info. Glad you're back!

And no OG, haven't attempted the printer-wireless problem yet; can only handle one techy problem at week it seems!!

Lovely photo Lindybird we can dream Spring will arrive eventually although at the moment it is pretty hard to do. I have never know it so cold in Poole in all the years we have lived here. Take care and keep warm.

Libndybird don't worry I am being extremely careful but it is so important to keep the birds well fed and watered. I will have to get a job soon to cover the cost of all the food we are putting out, can't keep up with them. I am now in the process of defrosting the bird baths so they have cdan have a drink/bath round about luinchtime.

When driving home from shopping mission listened radio and there was some expert predicting very cold spring here. It has something to do with that winter being so cold all over Europe. Kind of worrying thought considering the migrations and nesting

Hello auntie I just love all my garden birds and will do anything to help them out at the moment. Husband has just phoned to say he has purchased loads more food for them. I hope it is going to warm up a bit soon for them although we have snow forecast for tonight and tomorrow. That's when I really start to worry when the foold gets covered in snow and then freezes overl. You take take care and keep warm although I guess you are used to dealing with cold weather.
Morning all from a snowy Northumberland - another 2 to 3 inches last night - everything looked fantastic this morning.
Margobird - I, too am having trouble keeping up with feeding my garden birds - I bought a load more stuff yesterday but the rate they are eating itwon't last long. I had to dig around for the ground feeders this morning as they were buried under the snow. I have started putting a plastic plant saucer full of peanuts in a separate place as I've discovered this keeps my magpies away from the main feeders! I couldn't even de-ice the birdbath this morning, will try again later.

We have just measured where we cleared the snow on the drive yesterday and it showed 4" just overnight to accumulate on the already lying snow and it is snowing at the moment and warning of heavier snow tonight. What is great, is that everyone is checking on neighbours (esp. elderly ) and shopping at village shop or sharing what they have. Most of us did a massive shop before the snow started. Plenty of birdfood in but it is a battle to stop the bird table and ground being covered by snow as the cold wind is blowing the snow around. Just going to put boots on and see how far we can walk. Hate being confined to the house.
Morning all. Still sounds bad for everyone over the pond. As someone said, we who have this weather each year are used to it somehow and everyone is more geared up for it but when there are big storms, extra cold etc we still grind to a halt! Diane, what a great plow man that sounds. Very cheap as well, about half of what I pay:)

I have one more weather-related post. Sorry. Many of you are watching the osprey nest in Dunedin, Florida. Dunedin is located on the Gulf Coast (the west coast of Florida, near Tampa), and the weather there is generally tropical. This morning, Dunedin, Florida, is colder than Juneau, Alaska!!! Okay, what is happening to the weather? Who is messing with it?
