Hi folks: Don't forget to check the last pages of the previous chat for links, comments, and all the usual twaddle. :-)
Back safely from my Christmas lunch with friend ... also included some shopping :))
Tiger - thanks for the clock link - have saved it in my favourites ... like others, my favourites is full to bursting now
The snow & ice hasn't given at all today, although the temperature allegedly rose to +1.5C at one point! Heavy frost predicted for tonight, but no snow.

Morning all: Cloudy here with chance of rain this p.m. and more possible on Sunday. Brilliant! Diane: Blue flashing "wireless" light on printer not there at all; will try System Restore as can't face allegedly "Easy Set Up" wireless instructions again Suspect housework elves now employed in more upmarket neighborhoods. Sandy: Saturnalia sounds like fun; must check out conversion oppportunities! Tx for Garten pix and Alan thanks for ID'ing. No food wasted at our house (grew up under rationing!) Re the stores, food banks pick up "old" food for homeless shelters, etc. dibnlib: Good luck at Marks&Sparks. I'm holding off on a couple of items too, with same concern. Love Morse (are you watching reruns? I like the Inspector Lewis series too). Margobird: Glad you're taking care on that ice; I'm sure OH also takes care on those roads. Caerann: Lovely photos! Undies in an uproar? :-) Sounds more tumultuous than knickers in a twist. Hope your cold isn't any worse. Gary: Wrong kind of snow, eh? I remember returning a pair of shoes to a store when they fell apart after three weeks, only to be told by the salesperson that they weren't meant for walking in!
Christmas avatars all very cheery; must try to organize one for self. Please take care all.
Glad to hear that a lot of people on here, are coping with the snow, without falling over/sliding on the ice.
I decided to clear our front path this morning, so got out the trusty large spade & shovelled & shovelled, head down, working fast to get it over with (its not a long drive, just a car length + usual dogleg path to front door.) the snow was soft but underneath was the previous couple of days snow, compacted by people walking up to our door, so had to give up on those bits, carried on until found I had seen stars - now have a car wing mirror shaped hole in my head!! I was so bent, and concentrating on the task, I didn't notice how near the car I was, nor that I was in just the right place for a cracking reminder! Finished the job anyway by putting down some rock salt we have, then came in for a hot drink & congratulate myself. (OH was out on several errands, including hopefully mission to buy my present!)
The postman came over the path later (I hope he was grateful to me...) & delivered cards from several people I had forgotten we hadnt had cards from, if you know what I mean. Had to start a new string this afternoon & am very touched that we've been remembered by so many. Regards putting up decs: I used to wait until the day before Christmas Eve to put up the tree & most of the decs, but now get it over with earlier as there seems to be less & less time nearer to the big day. Where has this year gone, by the way??
a bit more ... ( when's she going to shut up? ) Caerann: Hope you are on the way to recovery, its rotten to get a cold at this time of year (both of my sons have had them after picking them up in hot offices).
Annette: We don't seem to have any help from housework fairies, do we? Horrified at how high some of the shopping trolleys are piled up, wonder who is going to eat it all, & sincerely hope they are not going to waste any food, which is not in my book at all.
Off out tonight for a 'free' meal: will tell all tomorrow, when we've eaten it!!!
Just finished catching up with all the blogs and it it seems that most have been having snow in some form or another. Went on a shopping mission this morning to Vane Farm for bird food as I rather give my money to the RSPB than either the supermarket or the pet stores. Glad I went as there was a Sea Eagle covorting at the edge of the loch and the people there had a telescope aimed at it. Talking to one of the people who work there and he said that it was one of the eagles that had been released this year as he had been able to read the wing tag. Didn't spend long as the snow came on quite heavy and I don't like driving in the snow.
On saturday neice and nephew took their aunts and uncles out for lunch instead of giving presents as when they ask what one would like they are told that we are not really needing anything which makes trying to find presents very difficult so a grand afternoon was had by all.
Hope everyone keeps warm during this cold spell and for those going away for christmas hope the roads keep clear.

Hi everyone. Happy solsitice to everyone in the nothern hemisphere, and a very happy Monday. The predicted overnight snow didn't quite materialise. In the last couple of hours though there has been some snow but this seems to have calmed down to a slight sprinkle. Everywhere looks nice and Christmassy though.Annette: Hope your laptop and printer are back on speaking terms soon. Sandy: Thanks for posting the pictures of Garten. A magnificent bird.OG, Margobird: A pied wagtail turned up in my garden this afternoon, sadly he was away before I could get the camera, so no pictures. They are fantastic wee birds, full of energy.Caerann: Hope your feeling better. Thanks for posting the lovely eagle photos.Alan: Glad you got back from your shopping mission in one piece, they can be quite chaotic at this time of year. I find it amazing how so much fruit and veg that could be grown in Britain is shipped in from abroad. Not great for reducing the carbon footprint.Lindybird: Hope you're okay after the collision with the car mirror. I can totally relate to your question with regards to where the year has gone. Time seems to get faster every year. Hope you enjoy your free meal.Stay safe, warm, and upright everyone.Paul.

Do you put your favoutites into folders? That way they never overflow. I use folders like wildlife and then subfolders like ospreys eagles peregrines etc.

Thanks for the tip about the new blog from Katie, DjoanS. I was about to sign off for now, when it caught my eye.
georgeg: What a great idea of your relatives, to have a lovely meal out together rather than buy unwanted presents. Hope you all enjoyed what sounds a great event.
Tiger My folders are becoming more & more, too!! Will have to look into this subfolders idea now.
Heron77: The years probably go quicker, the older we get...... not telling my age, but am getting to the stage where its best to reverse the number sometimes! My head is OK, I could do with some shaking up now & then I expect, it makes my memory better!
Lindybird: Oh dear. I do that on kitchen cabinets!
