Hi folks: Don't forget to check the last pages of the previous chat for links, comments, and all the usual twaddle. :-)
AQ: Scraps! Heck no - I have those at my house. We're coming over for the first course!
Diane: Well my immediate future plans include a trip to the gym tomorrow (thank heaven they're open!). As for 2010, I'm hoping it'll be a thoroughly uneventful year. How's your Dad? I love reading stuff on the Cern Collider. Watched Scientific American last evening where the topic was an international robot competition among engineering students from unis all over the world. Lots of fun - and such bright young people!!
AQ: Horns? Are you sure you aren't watching Diane's telly show on Angels and Demons? :-) Maybe it was the impala.
Hmm. Those don't look like impalas - they just arrived in a crowd.
I love that Scientific American program. Don't you wish that we had grown up with the technology that young people have today from a young age? My brother's kids are 5 and 8. He got them some very advanced video games for Christmas. I am just amazed at their command of technology.

Are those elands?
Yup, elands, I think. I googled an image.
Yes, elands. Thanks!! Those kids at the robotics competition were all so young - and several women/girls among them. What wonderful opportunities they have. I've got to make time this weekend to figure out why I can get video but no sound on my McCall Smith "Botswana" DVD (have checked/switched cables multiple times and can't figure it out - it's not just that one DVD), and why the wireless connection on my printer seems to have stopped working. If I were only 8 years old, I could do it in two minutes!
Wish I could help. When I was working, I used to edit a few tech books, so I had a reasonable command of the technology. But now, it has all evolved and left me behind, I'm afraid! If you don't keep up, you can lose track pretty quickly.
Is that a new or an old DVD? Periodically, Dolby reformats and the new tech equipment may not respond to the old DVD's. When that happens, you get video but not audio. You may need to reset your router to bring your printer back into the fold.?
Well technology is evolving at such a fast rate that something new is coming along every day. My grandkids have never even seen a rotary dial phone....
