Weekly Chat, Sunday, December 20 2009

Hi folks: Don't forget to check the last pages of the previous chat for links, comments, and all the usual twaddle.  :-)

  • Many Thanks Alan, I have just forwarded the Santa link to my local Neighbourhood Watch members, which should delight the children and bring a smile to the faces of their parents!

  • Alan, I am following Santa's progres, he is cracking on!!

Lindybird, miracles do happen with dog not eating chocs:)

Still not had any "emergency orders" from the front line so I may get away with not going out.....

  • Morning all: Brilliant sunshine here today and, apparently, tomorrow. Would've like some cloud to make it a bit Christmasy, but that won't arrive until Sunday.  OG: Better safe than sorry; travel sounds like a nightmare there and also in much of the U.S.  Feel bad for people who desperately want to be with family and can't make it because of the weather. Give OH big hug for taking on Tesco.  Lindybird: I lost the gravy boat a year ago and have never found it - and because we don't use much at all, keep forgetting to replace it, so will have nice Spode and good crystal set off by ghastly improvised gravy boat  (maybe wrap in foil and put bow on?).  Home grown sprouts? Yum! Your poem really did encompass the variety of topics and the friendliness of the blog. Thank you again.  Margobird! Do rest up and maybe get some help getting the meal on the table.  Alan: Had to adjust angle of monitor to see Robin (thought you were having us on at first!). Thank you and do drive safely - maybe have a toddy when you get home. Thanks for NORAD link - hope folks with little ones are sharing.  Tiger: Christmas on June 25 - and no crowds to fight? Sounds brilliant.

Now must get moving and wrap two remaining gifts; will set the table today, do the flowers, and get all the necessary dishes out and ready to go. Take care all!

  • Diane/Caerann, hope the weather isn't getting you too bad. Just seen some images of the storm accross the mid section. Gulp! Take it easy

  • just read about how Norad is able to track Santa.-
"The system works, according to Norad, because Rudolph the reindeer's famous nose gives off an infrared signature similar to a missile launch"

  • Ha Ha Ha, Gary!!    v. funny.

(you should see my nose when I go out in the snow, Rudolph has nothing on me for redness.)

  • I have sent the Santa Tracking site to several people with children ... all thrilled ... except one mum who says she will have to tell her kids it shuts down at 8pm - or she'll never get her kids to bed :)))

Gary - what a very clever reindeer that Rudolph is!

This pic is what is showing at one of the Loch of the Lowes webcams just now - love the snowbird!

  • Good Morning Day and a Happy Christmas Eve to all!

I'm staying indoors while still recovering from my cold and also doing some cookie baking as well. Now have 4 inches of new snow covered by 2 inches of ice from storms yesterday to deal with. John had gone out and bought WinterTrax for both of us and he says they work perfectly on the ice, even going down 2 flights of our wooden porch stairs this morning.

Alan: Thanks for the report on the Derby Peregrines. I try to look for them daily and hadn't seen them around for several days so I'm glad to hear one has been sighted.

Thanks to everyone for all the photos, poems and sharing of shopping and holiday stories. In case I don't get back on today or the morrow:

    Happy Christmas to all

    Be well and safe

Enjoy your family and loved ones

And be sure to have lots of fun

  • MARGOBIRD Sorry you are so poorly, get well soon and look forward to the New Year.  OG     Sorry you didn't get away after all. Have a nice time at home.
