Hi folks: Don't forget to check the last pages of the previous chat for links, comments, and all the usual twaddle. :-)
LINDYBIRD poor you sounds nasty.....we never take enough care.
HERON 77 I am sure they have a list of daft excuses and they pull them out of the hat when needed!!!
MARGOBIRD AND ANNETTE when my husband bangs his head it is always the fault of what he hits and not his
Just heard a good one on the news about the Channel Tunnel apparently "fluffy" snow has caused all the problems. Quite right about using public transport it is much to costly to go on trains nowadays and bus services getting cut constantly.
Margobird
sorry me again, just read katies blog mentiong temperatures and thought i would say in 1982 we lived at RAF Shawbury in Shropshire. In the January our met man recorded minus 25C for 2 weeks solid. Every time the forecast came on TV there we were with a blue circle with 25 in the middle and the met man saying it is poor old Shawbury again!!!!
Hamish thank you for the lovely card and have a good Christmas won't you.
Paul they are fabulous little birds I watch the pair in my garden for ages. We only ever get them in the winter usually when it has been wet but have never had a pair before.
Lindybird hope you are not suffering with a headache. My favourite trick is leaving cupboard doors ope which are at head height and crashing into them. Hope OH has got your present. Take care.
Annette I am sure OH takes care on the roads but it is what other people get up to that worries me. The worse the weather the worse some people seem to drive. I am a terribly nervous passenger in the car especially when it is dark. Have a good day.
Another chatty day despite the fact that everyone is soooo busy! We had another sprinkling of the white stuff this afternoon – this followed a partial thaw, so probably some hidden ice underneath now!
Margobird and Heron77 – re pied wagtail – OH did manage a picture yesterday but not very good - not at the right angle from the window to be able to use tripod.
Caerann - hope you are feeling better today. Thanks for eagles link and pictures.
Dibnlib – I knew you meant SSPCA! Glad Dillon was willing to give away his old toys.
Gary – returning to wet room – there is a low spot in the floor which leaves a puddle; designer asked to see photos so I took timed pictures for 24 hours and emailed them to him. The puddle is quite nice for soaking feet! It shouldn’t be there, but if they try to lift the middle, it could end up running out further rather than into its drain corner, so I don’t really know whether I want them to play with it anymore! You are so organised for snow there – it always causes chaos here – but I suppose it is less predictable, especially after many years with only minimal snowfalls.
Annette – homeless shelters here are not keen to receive leftover food or even ad hoc contributions in kind – they want cash so they can plan the meals and buy accordingly! And they are not allowed/able/willing to accept any out-of-date foodstuffs either. LG Blog update was from Katie based at RSPB headquarters at The Lodge in Sandy, Bedfordshire – so the picture was from the frozen south, not Alice in LG!
Lindybird – sorry to hear about the argument with the wing mirror – made my head hurt just reading about it! Do hope you are ok after that – and that postman and OH appreciated your effort and pain! Hope you are enjoying the meal – free food always seems to taste better!!
GeorgeG – lucky you decided to visit Vane Farm at the same time as the sea eagle! Glad you enjoyed your treat with niece and nephew on Saturday – much better than presents you don’t need or want – we never know what to get for OH’s Aunt, but live too far away for the meal out thing.
Alan – please thank Thunderdog Hamish for his card – and thank you for helping him make it - and Happy Christmas to him!
I hope all today’s and tomorrow’s shopping trips have been /will be successful – and safe!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
