See that Annette has been too busy perhaps, to start a new week, so I'm doing the honours. Rather wet in this part of the world this morning, so doing lots of tidying & Christmas preparing stuff.
See some people really show off. See http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap071002.html
Some turn it into a study! See http://solar-center.stanford.edu/art/analemma.html

Thanks Tiger, It is amazing what an education being on this site is. I had never heard of an analemma let alone a tutulemma. I used to have slight interest in astronomy when I was much younger but it never really developed from then.
Tiger, I have saved a copy of the 'Astronomy Picture of the Day'. I would love to have a copy to hang. This really has been an enjoyable education for me. My husband is now looking on his computer.
Sky and Telescope used to sell them. They may still do. No matter how many immitations I always love the original which I have had a copy of for nearly 28 years.
Astronomy picture of the day is fantastic. A great picture every day for over 5000 days. Just did a search for all their analemmas. See http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/apod/apod_search
A very useful tool is this sunrise/sunset tool for Britain. Good for knowing when the nest is going to be light and dark. See http://www.schoolsobservatory.org.uk/cgi-bin/srs_uk.cgi?Grid=1&Map.x=195&Map.y=179
Thank you Tiger, I have saved all the links and so will keep looking.
Sandy – thanks for alert to Richard’s blog.
Tiger - thanks for Analemma links – interesting and ‘twill be good to see evenings getting lighter earlier than I had hoped – don’t mind darker mornings – don’t do mornings of any kind!!! I saw Alan’s remark about the Tutulemma before I went to the astronomy sites, and wondered if a Tutulemma was a type of uncomfortable dilemma only faced by ballerinas!
Spoke too soon about the weather – had a real downpour as we went out this evening, and worse on the way back – deepest standing water I have seen on the A75. Went to Bird Club and several people confirmed that there is a Golden Eagle around Lockerbie! (see Forums – Advice – Golden Eagle). The talk was good – Richard Hesketh from Caerlaverock on tracking swans. We are discovering so much now about the birds around us – and able to share it too with the technology we have. Bought a book on the “Bring and Buy” stall – “Birds of Scotland” – includes folklore, local names and cultural beliefs about birds. Also won some Maltezers in the raffle!!!
And so to bed!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Tutulemma was the word coined by the photographers based on the Turkish word for eclipse. The great eclipse took place on 29th March 2006 and did go through Turkey.
I had hoped to go to Turkey to see it but I was unable to do so because of commitments at home :(
Of course that was the year that Henry was fooled into bringing up sprogs almost certainly sired by OVS.
OG, very exciting about the Golden Eagle, I'll check out the blog. Glad you had a good evening and what good things you came back with.
Thanks for all your info Tiger:)
We had some thunder and lightning tonight and now fog. What a very strange weather day here.
Happy Thursday everyone:)
Good Night/Day:
I just popped in to say hello to all. We're surviving the snow, sleet and cold but I've had an important matter come up that I need to deal with at the present time. I hope everyone is well and I'll be back hopefully soon.
Best,
Caerann
