This Topic has been set up to follow the Spring 2012 migration, and summer activities, of satellite tracked ospreys, excluding Rothes and Tore from Loch Garten, who are followed on this thread.
It replaces this earlier thread, Satellite Tracked Ospreys (non-LG) Aug 2011 - Feb 2012.
Alan: Are there any current or previous still active sat tagged ospreys for Keilder, Tweed Valley, Rutland or Aberfeldy....or anywhere else? Currently not counting offshore birds, until I get the UK sorted out?

About the Beatrice report - I think it's just recording her position on 13th/14th, as reported by Roy D - but a brilliant illustration of how fast info can travel on the web. I think the steps were:
1. Roy posts the report on his site early this am
2. Alan P spots it and posts a link at 9.36 am on the previous page of this thread
3. Someone sees Alan's post and put the report on Faune Charente-Maritime, (hence the ref to RSPB forum ospreys) - where jsb in turn sees it!
Edited - too much information, and the query was answered in a later post.
jsb - thanks for setting up the Summary. At Rutland there is 09(98) plus I believe another adult male tagged this summer, though RW have not yet said who it is. Not aware of any tracking by the other sites.
Unknown said: JSB : Thanks for that. I agree that it is not clear if it is an actual sighting or if they are just going by Roys data.

Whichever way it is such good news about Beatrice, she knows where she is going, knows where she likes to eat/stopover - having been to all these places I would say she is a very "canny" Scot.
No it isn't a sighting, it was put in as an observation by a third party, in this case the satellite tracking device, with a note that the actual location was a little north of Pons i.e. exact location not known. Sorry for the confusion, but if the locals know she is in the area we're more likely to get sightings!
Best wishes

Noisette: Many thanks for the clarification. Agree about the locals, more eyes, more sightings. But my guess and probably yours too, is that she has her flight plan set only to stop for refuelling at the River Ardour, near the Spanish border.
Roy has updated on Beatrice as of yesterday and she has reached her favourite stopover site safely
Just to add - I have put four years migration maps into one with Beatrice and the lines all follow like a railway tracks. Every year Copy and Paste the previous - she knws every inch of the way.
We've got a heat wave starting from today with temperatures up to 40°C down towards the Pyrenees, so perhaps she'll stay around a while.
The maps are amazing, do you think they use major roads or landmarks to navigate?

Noisette:
Here is your warning of 'canicule' ..... I see from the map that Beatrice will escape the maximum heat.
