Evening/morning!. Hope it's a good week for all. Check the previous blog for the latest adventures of Emma Peel and Steed plus recent posts from the usual suspects. :-)
Emma - what a whirl! Hope daughter's new boyfriend isn't headed back to Afghanistan any time soon.
EDIT: Oh this is interesting, in the following sentence, I typed the name of Germany's controlling political party during the late 30s/early 40s and it was replaced by asterisks! Just watched a great Netflix DVD - The Rape of Europa - about the pillaging of art by the *** and the subsequent repatriation of (most of) it after the war. Really interesting with footage I'd never seen before. After that, even more leftover Txgiving pie and rerun of Bridget Joans's Diary on telly while perusing latest Xmas catalogs. Have a good Sunday!
Alan: Flitting is the word, for sure. They're so aerodynamically different from other birds.
Thanks jsb, will definately watch that.
Hummingbird mum zipping in and out again. I love their wee faces when she does that. 270 viewers on webcam now.
Lindybird have read that the hummers nests are sealed using spiders web and therefor they will stretch as the chicks grow. Have seen Mum flitting around the nest, she is definitely encouraging them to take to the wing. I loved the natural world programme last night . I have never seen a black throated diver before. What amazing plummage. Must head for Loch Maree next spring in the hope of seeing them.
Finally got round to reading Richards blog about installing mains electricity. It sounds like a great cause making life easier for all at LG and if it means more reliable webcam coverage then I am sure a lot of us will donate. Looking forward to seeing the ammount given growing well past the much needed £7000
Off to give Dillon his supper. Must take a photo of him with his advent calender
282 hummingbird viewers now - and I'm going to have to go out. Assume everyone can watch on the full-screen (option is next to the blue Menu button). You can really see their colors. Oh here's Mom again. Now she's whizzed off to a branch in the lower left of the screen but won't be there for long.... Much agitation in the next as they both struggle for space to exercise. Oh my.
300 viewers and counting on the hummer cam.
I am feeling more festive now as we just got a call to see if we wanted returned tickets for the carol concert at Eden Court a week on Sunday It is performed by nurses and NHS staff and is in aid of ClicSargent Cancer Fund for Children. I have bought all the pressies now and most are wrapped. Final pressie was a cuddly bunny to add to his zoo of a kangaroo, a mouse, a pig, a winnie the pooh and a pink pig. I spend half my life tidying them up and still I buy him more!!!!
Hummers have fledged. I blinked and missed it. It was instantaneous.
Chicks fledged so quickly. So glad I saw it but now so glad I can now move away from computer !! Thanks Alan for telling us about this nest.
I missed the hummers fledging too ... nipped to the kitchen for a drink & when I came back they'd gone :(((
Good luck to them both!

Just listened to the singing animals, thank you. Which reminds me, did anyone watch the incredibly funny series where voices were put to animals. Unfortunately I cannot think what it was called but it was on either a Sat or Sun at 6 o'clockish. It has only recently finished, bu i hope they do another one. If so I will let you know
