Evening/morning!. Hope it's a good week for all. Check the previous blog for the latest adventures of Emma Peel and Steed plus recent posts from the usual suspects. :-)
Emma - what a whirl! Hope daughter's new boyfriend isn't headed back to Afghanistan any time soon.
EDIT: Oh this is interesting, in the following sentence, I typed the name of Germany's controlling political party during the late 30s/early 40s and it was replaced by asterisks! Just watched a great Netflix DVD - The Rape of Europa - about the pillaging of art by the *** and the subsequent repatriation of (most of) it after the war. Really interesting with footage I'd never seen before. After that, even more leftover Txgiving pie and rerun of Bridget Joans's Diary on telly while perusing latest Xmas catalogs. Have a good Sunday!
Have fun Lindybird, catch up later
Hi Everyone
Cold, brrr chilly here today and we've had snow showers! Temps to be 0 to 2c for the next week with wind chills of -1 to -3c so winter comes a bit early this year.
AQ: I wish there would be a ban here on plastic shopping bags. I'm always amazed when I leave the grocer with 2 or 3 of my canvas bags and everyone else has 5-10 plastic bags because the workers can't bag properly. How many times have you had the bananas put on top of your bread or a bottle of soda pop on the eggs? Unbelievable and that's why I usually use the self checkout and bag my own groceries.
I've really enjoyed watching the Hummingbird cam and am glad she has more than 1 clutch annually so we may be able to see various little beauties most of the year. =O)
Annette, Diane or Gary: Did any of you catch the Nova program this week called Musical Minds? It was a fascinating program including interviews with Doctor Oliver Sacks, the neurologist who discovered catatonic people can react to music by singing or dancing. The program featured a blind and autistic young man who can play the piano like nobody's business by repeating what he has heard only one time. Dr. Sacks latest book also sounds worth checking out:

Evening/Morning all:
OG: Welcome back and good for you with all those prezzies! AQ: Enjoy the grandkids. Bommyknockers indeed! :-) Lindybird: I remember those string bags. And it's not mean to include cards w/parcels - just sensible. I'm not feeling too Christmasy yet either, and have set aside Saturday to put out lights. Band concert sounds pleasant - enjoy! But too bad about the cranky neighbor. Caerann: Thanks for the link to the Bob Anderson article. Didn't see Nova, but I've read Musicophelia, which I enjoyed, although I found it required more medical/scientific knowledge than I have or his previous books required. Heard something on NPR the other day about people who see colors while listening to music - called synethesia or something like that. Fascinating. Everyone else: Nice to read all comments - take care!
Krrrraaash!!! Oh dear, that wasn't Lindybird's plates, was it?
Larder stocked, beds found and made. Just waiting for phone call to say when the g-ks will be delivered tomorrow. Speaking of beds - how did I manage when our 2 were living at home? Where did I put all the junk that now appears on the spare beds? Another TV-less night ahead - 4th this week. Not that I watch a lot but only rubbish is on at this time of year. Nothing beats a good book. Himself was getting excited that a new digital channel is starting soon. I don't think he quite believes me that it is a young people channel - judging by the trailers, teen & pre-teen.
Morning all. 9am here and sun is just coming up.
Aquilareen, sorry `bout those neighbours. Wonder what will happen if they ever would need your help with something.
Lindybird in Lindybird Boulevard, hope you enjoyed that BrassBand
DjoanS, funny video, thanks
dibnlib, I can`t see those BBC programs online. I`m just hoping it will come from our telly sometime later. We do have quite a bit BBC programs here, mostly nature documents witch I definitely do not complain about :)
Caerann, I have a book by Oliver Sacks The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat, very interesting read!
Annette, my oldest godson who is very musical, says that he sees music in colours
Have a nice Friday everyone

Hi aquilareen, maybe Himself is a typical man; boys are boys forever!
AQ. What a horrible neighbour! We have one or two who don't acknowledge the rest of us but aren't unpleasant either.
Annette: I come from a musical background (Mum sang professionally) and I have met a number of people who claim to see music in colours. Can't say I do, though!
Morning all,
Watched the program on Loch Maree last night. Absolutely stunning scenery and great wildlife especially the White Tailed Eagles and the Black Throated Divers. Loved every minute of it.
I have had to call in reinforcements as the shopping missions intensify. Lady P and her daughter are going where no shopper has gone before i.e town on a friday. I have had to man the fort in case IR are needed.
Weather is pleasantly sunny this morning here on TI and I have just got all the Christmas stuff down from the loft. Not putting lights up for a another week or so just getting prepared.
Sunny , Temp 2.2c , Wind W 14mph.
FAB
Morning everyone.
I too watched that fabulous program about the Highlands wildlife - I recorded to watch again in the future!
It is a beautiful morning here, sunny and calm, although chilly. I just came back from a supermarket shopping trip - you would have thought they were giving stuff away by the crowds - it is usually nearly empty on a Friday morning!
Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

DjoanS enjoyed the video very much thanks.
I will say a quick hello to all and hope you are all well. Can't spend a lot of time today on the web. Have finally got myself into Christmas mode and wrapping presents, writing cards etc.
