Starting things off this week with a reminder to check the last of the posts for the week of the 15th so you don't miss any of the excellent information being shared. I hope this week we'll have check-ins from Cirrus, George G and some others who have been quiet but to whom I'm sure we all send our good wishes.
Happy Sunday Everyone!
Hallo all and thanks to Caerann for setting us up for the week.
Hubby and I have been cleaning the house all day; totally exhausted. One of those cleanings where you move all the furniture and scrub everything from top to bottom. Won't do that again for a while.
Hope everyone has a good Sunday, that the weather is as pleasant as possible, and that OG doesn't find any more problems with her ensuite!
Greetings from a cool SA, 20 C today – lovely. And we’ve had 12 mm of rain. But not so good in NSW, they are expecting 41. Some of their bushfires are close to towns.
Yesterday, under instruction from Bride #2, we continued our search for a Wedding Photo Site. Our previous excursion resulted in many "no" and a few "possible" parks. At last we found one, suitably located between church & reception, and which looks pretty good. Lots of raised flower beds, curved paved paths, pleasant trees in background. Admittedly the lawn was dead (not surprising after the previous weeks) but maybe next Sept it will be green. While Himself was photo-ing to send to Miss Bossy Bride, I spotted some galahs fussing around a tall palm tree. Ah ha a hole!
AQ: pleased your weather is a more comfortable temperature now. Great to see Galahs in a natural setting - that tree must have quite a large girth! Hope the bride is satisfied with the results of your search.
Wattle: I do hope all is well with you in NSW - sounds mighty scary to me! Take care.
Annette: when we were in Lancashire, the kind of cleaning you describe would be referred to as "bottoming" - I guess because you get to the bottom of all the stuff you are dealing with! We were only saying yesterday morning that we shall have to do that to our bedroom when(!!!!) the ensuite is finished - it has been used as a workshop!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Caerann thanks for starting things off again. Hope all of you are well. This is just a quick post as I have lots on today so can't spend the time I would like to spend on the web. I do hope the osprey that was still here is going to move on. Weather absolutely awful, sky is black as night at the moment so another heavy shower is on the way. My garden had started to dry out but with all the rain overnight and this morning it is floodd again. Had just put dry food out for the birds but it was a wasted effort as within minutes it was soaking wet again. They will eat it though. I have felt really sorry for them of late with all this wet weather, amazing how they survive. Have a good day all.
Margobird
Forgot this one which happened Friday:
When the joiner was using our bed as a workbench (!), he heard and saw a bird hit the window in a strong gust of wind. But, he reported, it was not one bird, but two - one was a sparrowhawk and the other it's prey hanging from its feet!
Thanks Caerann for setting us up for the week:) Hope you and everyone else has a happy sunday:)
AQ, lovely photo, thanks and so pleased it has cooled down. And rain!! My goodness. Sorry about the search for the perfect spot, must be tough going. Weddings are very tricky things to arrange, apparently....... LOL
Well done on the cleaning Annette, and OG when you get round to it. I'd never heard of that phrase so thanks.
Not much planned here today so see how the day unfolds.
Just got back from Huntingdon Garden & Leisure. Bought some Primroses and pansies and picked up another free tree. This time for Caroline Lady Ps daughter.
When we left home the sun was shining but on the way back it poured with rain. Nevertheless we did see a buzzard above the A1. A few years ago there were no buzzards in this area.
Weather is much cooler today. Temp 8.6c , Wind S 21mph.
Off to watch Dundee play Inverness on BBC Alba in the Alba Cup Final.
Sounds like everyone is doing okay. I'm creaking from all that up and down and wielding the vacuum and all its bits and pieces. I hate housework. I could live in one big, sunny room with a bathroom and kitchen (separate) and minimal furniture. Whine, whine, whine. I remember that mudstorm Wattle (was it Wattle?) had some months back; if she's near fires now it'll be clouds of ash.... at the least.
Off to watch Sunday morning political pundits on telly, then up to see daughter, who's been nursing her horse, which had celullitis (sp?) and no, it's not that cellulitis. She's been back and forth giving him shots every day, and he seems finally to be on the mend. She's creaky and tired too so we'll make a fine pair.
Take care all.
Good Morning Day Everyone!
Ooh A.Q. your Galah birds are quite beautiful! A nice sunny day here, should be around 54f/12c but I'm nursing a bit of a cold so no sitting outside in my flannel shirt and long trousers. Nice to have windows open and hear the birds though.
Happy Sunday all!
Good Evening to everyone
Alan thanks for the info about the free tree. We had no idea about it as the garden centre we use is privately owned and not participating. Anyway we went off to a different garden centre this am and got a rowan sapling. would have liked a field maple but they did not have any. Dave has planted it in a large tub at the moment and will transfer it to the ground next autumn. All our winter and spring flowers are in now so here is hoping for a nice colourful display
Yes GARY great rugby result for Scotland, thank goodness he missed that last conversion. It was so tense. My OH is English but of course was routing for the Scots and jumping up and down with excitement when the final score was 9-8
