Weekly Soiree Sunday November 22nd

Starting things off this week with a reminder to check the last of the posts for the week of the 15th so you don't miss any of the excellent information being shared. I hope this week we'll have check-ins from Cirrus, George G and some others who have been quiet but to whom I'm sure we all send our good wishes.

Happy Sunday Everyone!

  • We are having an unconventional Thanksgiving menu. Dad loathes turkey, so he requested swissed steak, roasted potatoes, and carrots, followed by raspberry and blackberry pie. I'm a vegetarian, and I'm going to enjoy cheese pizza!!! LOL

  • Oh Diane! Good to see you. I just put a message on your page wishing you a Happy Txgiving.  Mmmm. Raspberry and blackberry pie? What time should we get there?  :-)))

And yes, isn't that hummingbird cam fabulous?

  • Annette: I'm also making homemade yeast rolls. We'll eat around 4:00. See you then. LOL

  • I'm watching the Africa cam and there was a spoonbill tootling around - gone now. I gather their cam has been down for a while but is back up today.

Also got a Julia Child special on - replays of her shows. She mentions at one point that if people are afraid of adding butter to sauces [for health reasons], it's okay to use cream as a substitute!! Such a character.

  • Hi everybody. Been annoyingly busy with work and stuff, so haven`t had time to chat here. But just read Richard`s blog and could not resist to make a quick visit here.

Caerann, I thought that that was you meant. Thank you again. Finnish IS one odd language...

Lovely photos. Patriciat: Tweed is absolutely gorgeous!

Happy Thanksgiving to all our USA friends and a happy Thursday to each and everyone everywhere!

But now I must go again, see you later!

  • Morning All.  Almost, almost sunny here, it's trying to be anyway.  At least its dry, so I have no excuse & must put on my sensible shoes & walk into the town, without getting out the car.  Forgot to buy the special Christmassy stamps to put on the Christmas cards, also will pop into the library as I've not been for some time:  they rent out CD music which is a treat as it saves buying something to see if you enjoy it. Usually only get reference books out as too many books in the house already waiting to be read, to bother with more. (Am reading "Many Years From Now" by Paul McCartney at present, very interesting autobiography but HUGE amount of pages)  Lived in Liverpool at the time of the Beatles initial fame, my older brother actually saw them perform in the Cavern Club before they were famous. Have huge amount of affection for that vibrant city.

Hope all our USA friends enjoyed their Thanksgiving meals:  so glad to hear that your father is now up to enjoying his day, Diane and that you are both recovering.  It was the birthday of a friend of mine, & I always feel that that date is the starting gun for our preparations for Christmas, hence my panic about the cards going out on time- when I get around to finishing writing them all, that is. Have a good day, All..

  • Morning all,

Happy Thanksgiving to all our friends in U.S.A.

Lindybird : My cousin used to go to the Cavern Club as she lived in Liverpool at the time of the Beatles. I dont think she actually saw them there but I believe she saw some other groups including The Yardbirds. I saw the Beatles in concert in the Caird Hall in Dundee in the 60s.

Bright and sunny here on TI. I think a shopping mission is scheduled so I had better get tooled up and don my camouflage jacket.

    FAB

  • Good morning all, and HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all across the pond - enjoy all the family get-togethers and nostalgic memories - and that yummy-sounding food!

More to follow when I catch up with reading all the night's activity - son is just setting off to interview.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Good morning everyone - and I will add my 'Happy Thanksgiving' wishes to all our friends who are celebrating!

Beautiful morning here just now - if a tad cold - great activity on the feeders in the garden at the moment!

I was watching the New Forest Carcass-Cam earlier this morning and there was a small bird of prey feeding - possibly a goshawk??? Anyway it made great viewing - excellent start to my day :))

OG - hope your son's job interview goes well

Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!
