Starting things off this week with a reminder to check the last of the posts for the week of the 15th so you don't miss any of the excellent information being shared. I hope this week we'll have check-ins from Cirrus, George G and some others who have been quiet but to whom I'm sure we all send our good wishes.
Happy Sunday Everyone!
hi Caerann yes i have been wondering about Cirrus. don't seem to have heard from her for ages. I know she has had a lot on her plate with helping her friend and selling her house. hope she is well
sorry folks another piccie of dillon. Really i was just checking that i remembered how to do it. Must start to get out and about with the camera more and take photos of things other than dillon
Hello all. First chance to sit down at the computer. Hope you are all having a good day - we have gale force winds and heavy showers. Oh well, it's a good day for doing 'house' things and I now feel very virtuous! dibnlib Dillon is gorgeous. You mustn't feel guilty about putting his picture up for us to see. By the way, my OH is a Scot, so we support bothe Scotland and Ireland at rugby, unless they are playing each other, when things become tense!
Dibnlib: Another great picture of Dillon. Glad you got your free tree. We are going to plant ours on 5th December between 11 and 12 to participate in the record attempt.
Dundee FC have just won the Alba Challenge Cup beating Inverness Caledonian Thistle 3 - 2. I was a bit worried when we were 2 down at half time but we played them off the park in the second half with 3 great goals. Off to celebrate now.
FAB
Lovely picture of Dillon!
What's all this about free trees? what have I missed??! I would like a Rowan - partly to teach OH how to pronounce it! He insists on rowan as in "row a boat", and I say rowan (like the song "The Rowan Tree") as in "having a row" - looks silly written down, but I think it makes sense!
Cirrus has been on other forums, so maybe she'll soon be back in the Chat - hope so!
Been wrapping for Christmas this afternoon - even got OH involved! Will be delivering for D#2 and son-in-law to the student grandsons in E'burgh next weekend for them to collect in December - the two boys themselves want /need money as usual! Then the next week will be delivering in NE England.
Numbers of Goldfinches were up this morning - wet and windy this afternoon.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Dibnlib, a lovely picture of Dillon. Love the reflection:)
Caerann, hope you feel better with the cold (hope it isn't a full blown "man cold") and I noticed the UK words!! LOL
Annette, hope your daughter's horse is on the mend. I feel her pain:)
Well done Dundee!!
OG, that is very organised of you. We are not like that at all.
Quiet day here. OH had a migraine to start off with, better now but feeling a bit "seedy" so having a quiet time at the moment..
ht patriciat. Know what you mean. we are definitely on opposite sides when it comes to the calcutta cup. unfortunately it is usually England who win and I have to put up with a 24 hour gloat.
Meant to say well done for a good performance at the dog agility, shame it had to be called off. Is it a border collie you have?
Hello OG I pronounce rowan the way you do. to find out more about free trees either go back to alans blog on the 21st or I think you can get the info by googling tree o'clock. not all garden centres are participating and the dates for the free trees differ. Our local homebase doesn't start till Thurs but Klondyke were giving free trees today. There was a choice of 6 and i guess it is while stocks last. Just found the leaflet Try bbc.co.uk/treeoclock
quiet day all round here.
Hope everyone enjoyed the weekend and has good weeks:)
OG - Rowan - Our aged Oxford dictionary says you are both right!!!!. It first gives the "row a boat" pronunciation, then adds the "quarrel" sound as being . . . Scottish !!!!!! The things I learn from this bird blog!
Still pleasant here. NSW's temps today are half of yesterday's and they should have rain. I hope we hear from Wattle soon. After she's finished cleaning her ashy windows. I hope those in flooded northern UK & IRL are recovering.
Last week a routine street maintenance in a nearby suburb turned into a rescue. With a manhole cover removed, the workman heard the pitter-patter of little feet. Using a camera designed for drain-cleaning he saw 8 ducklings running up and down the drain in a line, but one was injured. With a net on a copper tube he scooped up the ducklings as they ran past. He made little duck noises until the elusive injured one walked into the net. The RSPCA is looking after the d'lings. Yet I can't help feeling sorry for Mother Duck. Somewhere she thinks they are lost. Who knows how far they travelled in the underground drain.
