Hi all. Just got this started before zipping off to bluegrass concert. Check out the previous blog for nifty photos of alpacas from OG and more!
Annette glad you enjoyed your concert. I am so taken with Bill Wyman now I have ordered a couple of CD's. Was spoilt for choice as he has so many but looking forward to listening again to some wonderful music when they arrive.
Margobird

Lindybird that was a wonderful description of the Remembrance Day parade and service. Seems even more poignant these days with all our young soliders losing their lives in Afganistan on what seems to be a daily basis now.
DjoanS thanks a lot and as you say will have to take things easy today. Have to be well for the weekend as have 2 shows to go to and it is mum-in-law's 80th birthday and will be going up to London to a restaurant we have booked for a family party. I suppose I will eventually catch up with all the house work.
Sorry I haven't posted recently but have been keeping up to date reading the blogs and the updates from LG. Had the Gas Board in to service my boiler and fire and they condemned the fire because they said there was not enough draw on the fire and they were not sure that all the fumes were going up the chimney although it has been like that for years and I have not succumbed to anything yet but had to arrange to have the fire removed and somebody to build up the hole in the wall. Luckily I have a friend who is a gas fitter and as I was in the building trade I know quite a few builders so hope to have things done by the end of the week then I am just going to install an electric fire as I very rarely use it as the central heating keeps the house warm. I would also like to say how moving the remembrance service was and the one on Saturday night when you saw the two youngsters walking down and presenting the bunch of poppies to the person in charge of the British Legion was very moving and I would hope that they would teach children about the sacrifices that were made so that we could live in a free society. There is a boy who lives round the corner from me who has just returned from Afganistan and his wife was going to meet him last Friday and I don't think I have seen anyone happier that her husband had returned but was talking about those who wern't as lucky as she was. Hope I haven't gone on too long but I wish everyone who is feeling poorly a quick recovery and be back as normal as soon as possible

Margobird: Listen to your body - it is telling you to give it a rest. Forget the housework - it won't go away while you take time out, so put yourself first and get really well to enjoy the shows and the birthday celebration at the weekend.
Another "cheer-up picture - old one, this, 2001 our previous garden again.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
morning all. Sorry about the lack of overnight chat from this side of the pond (it's not normally me anyway!! LOL) Had a busy day yesterday and fell into bed last night.
Margobird, hope you take it a little easier today and recover.
OG, Hope OH has picked up those slabs. How annoying. Thanks for the photo's again, lovely.
GeorgeG, what a pain about the fire. As you say, you have lived with it for years, now there is a problem. Don't get me started on all this health and safety stuff.....
Cirrus, deep breaths, but those e mails do seem a lot. Hopefully you can do something with the settings to reduce the number.
Sorry that I haven't posted recently. We are still dealing with H1N1 here. My Dad is struggling to recover, and I'm still weak. Please take every precaution to avoid this flu! Thanks very much to all who have expressed concern. It means a lot. I always hate to make a short post and acknowledge some people but not others. Seems rude. :-) So I'm reading but not posting much. Hope all are happy and healthy. Take care, Margobird!
By the way, here's a page that offers wonderful videos of several different bird of prey species (as well as other types of birds on the menu on the left). The osprey video, called "Gone Fishing," is wonderful, as is the funny great horned owl video next to it! I don't know whether you folks in the UK/Finland/Australia can access this or not??? Anyway, for those who need an osprey fix and can see it...

Afternoon folks! Very foggy and gray day here temp around 0C.
Diane, what great videos!!! Absolutely wonderful. I just kept stearing those close ups of Golden eagles eyes and talons, breathtaking. Thank you so much. So sorry about you and your dad, haven`t realised that you have H1N1. Hope you two are well soon.
Alan, thanks for that Estonian link.
Margobird, are you sure you don`t need to see a doctor?
Have a nice Monday each and everyone!
my photos in flickr
Auntie I have given myself today and if not greatly improved by tomorrow will be going to the doctor. I think I must have damaged myself more than I thought.
Cold and grey here but not quite as cold as you have, was 5.5 this morning, lowest temperature so far this Autumn.
