Weekly Chat, Sunday November 8

Hi all. Just got this started before zipping off to bluegrass concert. Check out the previous blog for nifty photos of alpacas from OG and more!

  • Wattle 15 it sounds unbearably hot for you.  Hope you are coping OK.

I too will observe the 2 mintues silence today.  I watched the repatriation of 6 UK soldiers yesterday afternoon and it broke my heart.  All so young and some with children who have now lost their Dad as well as mothers and fathers losing their beloved sons.

I can quite believe you were incensed at commercial breaks.

  • Caerann thanks for that link, magic and especially the osprey.

  • auntie have a good day off.  Lots of time to look at the web.

  • Hi Margobird! How are your bruises and muscles? I was just browsing Poole in GoogleEarth, looks like a nice town/city.

  • Hello auntie bruises at long last starting to fade although still have quite a black eye and ribs are still a bit painful.  I feel so much than I did on Sunday which was a really bad day pain wise.  Have even managed to do some housework yesterday and today, first time in over 2 weeks as before I fell over I had gone down with some viral infection which made me feel lousy.

There are some nice parts of Poole but it is gradually being spoilt with so many horrendous buildings.  Poole Quay is very nice and Poole Old Town still retains its charm but I wonder for how much longer.  U live just outside Poole in a place called Parkstone but very easy to get to Poole by car and bus.  I like living hear the sea as I love watching and listening to waves..  Very calming effect.

  • Hi Caerann. What a great picture of the kestrel. So colourful and well done for standing out for so long to get the shot. Birds of prey are incredible. You mentioned red tailed hawks before and we have quite a few here in CT and I often stand in the garden watching then fly around.

Sorry you had a "down day" yesterday and sorry I wasn't around to help like Annette:) When you mentioned the holidays, being a Brit, I thought you meant christmas at first then my "mind like a steel trap" clicked round to Thanksgiving! It is such a nice holiday over here. Neighbours have invited us to their family meals and are so willing to share with "outsiders". I hope something gets sorted out for you but if not, you and John can make something of it.   Here's hoping today is a better day.

Thanks for the info about the soccer. I'm going to be really dense here but what other sports is your area famous for , must be baseball/football? (ice fishing!!! LOL)

  • Hi Wattle, hope the heat has cooled off slightly for you.

Auntie, will it warm up anymore now, or is that winter for you?

Margobird, glad you are improving. That was some whack if you still have all those bruises after this time.

Annette, happy Wednesday and hope all OK there.

Sorry if I have missed anyone. Cirrus, I meant to say I gladly accepted the platonic hug the other day , along with Alison:)

Quiet day here so far (well it is only 7.30am!) so off to start my day

Big hug out to you today Caerann, hope that Kestrel comes back

  • Hi All!   Its so interesting hearing about all the different kinds of weather around the world, and all the traditions.   Wattle:  A special Hi!, glad to hear from you and my, you sound busy! Hope the heat is not too much today.

auntie:     Kingfishers are so gorgeous, arn't  they  -as you describe, just like little jewels. Never seen one except on TV.

Margobird:   You sound as if you are recovering, but expect it will take some time. Hang the housework! Sit & enjoy your birds, and a cup of tea!

Caerann:    Lovely pics of your American Kestrel, also enjoyed the one on the Palemale site the other day, I forget to dip into that site so often now, the photos are always so good, its pretty impressive. Glad you got a lift from watching your birds, & hope things can pick up for you soon. I'm sure even if you can't be with your family (they sound very stretched out across the States!) they will all be thinking of you and with you in spirit at Thanksgiving.  What do you eat, usually, on that day?  Is it turkey? ---Big hugs from me,too!

Thanks to all who were concerned about my OH climbing ladders- he is a very stubborn man, and gets a reading of the 'take care, for goodness sake' from me, every time.   Also, I remind him of what our mothers used to say "Don't come running to me when you break your leg..."

  • Should add, he is doing something much less dangerous today, and replacing some of the worst bits of the lawn with new turf. This damage has been caused, of course, by Dog, who unrepentant, is now trying to get in the way again of the repairs and treading new mud into the kitchen, onto my newly cleaned floor!! aargh!

  • aerann : Lovely picture of American Kestrel.

Weather here today on TI is cloudy damp and miserable. Temp 7.6c , Wind SW 3mph.

This morning Lady P and I embarked on the shopping mission and returned successfully.

The goldfinch from yesterday made a return today. Here it is on the birdbath:
