Ospreys AW & 09 settled in Ivory Coast and Senegal respectively. Check out the link for the latest Google Earth data http://www.ospreys.org.uk/satellite/index.html
Sandy, Thanks for your Rutland photographs. The water levels look lower than they did on TV last night.
09 is on his way home to Rutland:

Is 09 the male osprey that has never bred, even though he paired up with a female last year? It's exciting that he's on his way back!
I do hope AW is alright and makes his way back safely too.
A thing of beauty is a joy forever.

Yes that is true. He may be a father for the first time!

Thanks Alan. That is good news. I hope he stays safe.
I am excited 09 is on his way back and let's hope he finally has an Osprey family this yr :)
Great news Alan. Things are moving at last.
ChloeB & Tiger's Osprey Data
Thanks Tiger and bright&breezy, AW did a great job last year, I do hope he returns safely. Hopefully 09 will raise a family successfully this year.
It is exciting, last year I was glued to LG and the Dyfi, and shall include Rutland Water this year!
Quick query for those who know Rutland: can anyone recommend a good place for lunch in the vicinity of the reserves? And does anyone know when the osprey centre opens? I can't find anything but opening hours on the website, but sure someone mentioned recently that the centre is closed at present.
Any other recommendations (favoured hides etc.) gratefully received! Next Friday (or even Monday) probably a bit early for returning ospreys, but you never know - we might just be lucky.

I think that the Wheatsheaf is the one recommended by the locals. It is the one I been to most.
It is D on the map. (5 King Edward's Way, Oakham, Edith Weston, Oakham, Leicestershire LE15 8EZ)
